In reply to: Nobel Nomis LeBrandenburg 's message, "Re: capture" on 09:27:58 09/10/05 Sat

She woke with a bad taste in her mouth, and spat, and gasped with pain. After a moment it passed enough for her to explore with her tongue, and she scowled as she wiggled her right front tooth back and forth. That one was permanent, too. Great. Angie Gap-Tooth, that's my name from now on.

She could not hear her captors, nor see them (for her eyes were apparently still out of order), but she could sense them - a prickling of the hair on her arms, the uneasy feeling of being watched, like the residue of a bad dream. Her feet were bound but her arms were free, and she sat up slowly, pressing one hand to her throbbing head. "Jerks," she muttered, but got no response.

Just then there was a rush of sour-smelling wind, and the sound of something large being dropped to the ground.

::Friend for Bana,:: said a voice she recognized. ::Bana see him now, yes?::

And just like that, her sight returned - though there was not much to see. She was on the rough dirt floor of some kind of cavern, surrounded by rock, and only dim light filtered down. Her captors were easy enough to pick out - shadows blacker than the darkest moonlit night, making pale even the dark shadows of the cave. But when she tried to make out the shape of them, the outline seemed to grow fuzzy and there was a ringing in her head, so she stopped trying and looked across the cave.

There lay a heap of fur, and even in the poor light she could see that it was blue. She crawled across, pulling with her hands and hopping on her knees, and the shadow that had brought Nobel Nomis LeBrandenburg to this place retreated as she approached. Angie leaned against his chest and felt it rise and fall weakly, but he was unconscious.

"Wake up," she said, shaking his shoulder. "Come on, you stupid blue-butt gleaner, open your eyes."
