In the very darkest hour of the night, amid the fierce brawling of the heavens, the female arrives. The frequent eruptions of thunder announce her entrance among the gathering of equines, as the endless torrents o' rain wash away the past of which she vowed to never speak of again. She had long since decided to wipe the very world from which she had spent the first eighteen years of her life from her memory, yet, it seemed that no matter how hard she strived to ignore it, the past continued to haunt her. And would, she knew, until her dying day.
She creaps along the dirt floors of the massive stabling area like a mere shadow in the night, her harsh breathing muted by the torrential storm, which had forced her from her seculsion within the forestry and into the enticing sanctuary of the barn. Thick layers of residual soil cover her drenched, shivering frame, threatening to erase the beauty which lay beneath as the droplets of tears and rain ran small rivers through the caked dirt and down her battered features.
Shuddering, she slips into a mount's vacant stall and sinks down amid the straw, cradling the bulge of life thriving within her belly as the thunder continues to cry out, drowning out the bitterness of her wracking sobs.
