While it appears a hoax is being played, I'm fairly sure there is somewhere a holy grail of lost Lizzy-Lynott recordings. I'm also willing to guess that they're not very good. I mean if Lizzy had truly outstanding songs in the can during their later years, would they have included dreck such as Bad Habits or Heart Attack on their legitimitely released albums. Those songs are awful.
As for the unreleased stuff, I almost wish I never heard the collaborations Lynott did with Huey Lewis. Still Alive and Can't Get Away are both appalling, and I can't imagine there's anybody--aside from Huey--whose regularly pulling those out to liven up a party.
I love the Man and His Music Series, but it's pretty clear to me why tracks like Rockula, Cold Black Night or Ghetto Woman weren't released, even as B-sides. It's because Lizzy had plenty of betters songs and didn't think these experiments should be continued.

Call me a heretic if you will, but while I welcome the release of a set of truly outstanding tunes, the historical record provides a pretty convincing case that such a treasure trove simply isn't out there.
