Murphy- I think me and you should be together, I know homeboy Lamz broke your heart, but I wanna be the one to put it back together
Clara thought for a while, the last thing she needed to do was get into another serious relationship. This is the same thing that happened when she broke up with Fizz, in no time she was with Olamide, and just like Fizz he probably never expected her to find someone so fast. But Murphy was different, they were friends first, she knew Murphy would never hurt her, and not just because Nelly would kick his azz, but because she knew he cared about her feelings. And she did have a crush on Murphy. Maybe he was just what she needed.
Murphy- so tell me ma what’s it gonna be
Clara- (smiles) you and me?
Murphy- (kisses her) I can get with that
Clara- what do you think Nelly is gonna say?
Murphy- hopefully he’ll be happy for me
Clara- let’s just keep this on the low for a while …I don’t want everyone in our business
Murphy- well shoot …I wanna tell the world
Clara- we will …in due time …I just don’t wanna make the same mistake 3 times
Murphy- I feel you
They finish making sundaes.
The next day Nelly, Murphy, Kayjuanand Ali went to the studio with Jerome early that morning. Chelle and Aashene came over and they all sat around and talked.
Aashene- what are we gonna talk about?
Kaylonie- how about work
Aashene- work is work, making money
Kaylonie- aiight, how about our love lives
Chelle- booo next
Kaylonie- sounds like an interesting topic to me
Chelle- I have nothing to say
Kaylonie- well I do, I talked to John yesterday after you all went to sleep and we’re not gonna be able to get back together …we’re just friends
Clara- how the hell did that happen?
Kaylonie- because man, I love John, but what we had is over, I’ve pimped enough niggas to see what they are about, and I know even though I love John we just can’t be together, we agreed on that together, we reminded each other of why we broke up in the first place
Clara- that’s cute but it’s a whole bunch of bullsh!t, now I know I’m the youngest one here but let me tell yall something about men and love
Aashene- oh lord here we go
Clara- on the real, men: bullsh!t, love: bullsh!t
Kaylonie- (laughs) C you been drinking strawberry wine coolers again?
Clara- listen, no matter how much you give a nasty azz man it’s never enough, Olamide, I gave that nigga tha best years of my life, Fizz, I gave him my prime years, he dumped me and tried to come back for seconds, now tell me what kind of sh!t is that! And listen to this, Murphy got damn Lee, I’ve been liking this boy since day freakin one, now he wants to wait until a couple of weeks after I break up with Lamz to ask me what about us, all this is bullsh!t, none of them care about me, they just want what they can get from me, and don’t be a fool for love, cause love don’t love you
Kaylonie- dang C, I’m sorry you feel that way, but how are you gonna give up on love, just like on love and basketball
Clara- lord here we go again, listen Ayesha, love and basketball does not have all the answers to life’s questions
Kaylonie- just listen to me C, at the end, this girl was about to give up on the two things she loved most, and you know she would have lucked out, but look what happened when she gave it another chance, now I’m not saying Olamide is the love of your life, or even Fizz, but trust me, he’s out there and you’re too young to give up looking for him, look at me, I went through all that just to make a 360 (circle lol) and then find out that I still won’t be with John, but I had to go out and live and see what love and life was all about, and even though it hurts I don’t regret any decisions I made because every bad move, wrong turn and heart break made me a better person, and you’re just gonna have to learn to take the good with the bad
Clara- well I haven’t had enough good and too much bad, when will it be my turn? Not to be dumped and put aside until you feel better and just know no one will come along while you’re making up your mind, Lamz nor Fizz realized that I was a person and not a coat that they could put on and take off when they wanted
Chelle- man I’m feelin both of yall, but I don’t wanna be alone for the rest of my life
Clara- and I don’t wanna be used for the rest of my life
Chelle- well C maybe everything happens for a reason, like Fizz coming back
Clara- I will love Fizz until five minutes after I die, but I know were weren’t meant to be together, he’s about to married, and he wanted me to have sex with him
Chelle- how about John coming back
Kaylonie- that was a good thing, even though we can’t be together, but he showed me that he’s not the kind of man I need
Chelle- exactly, you can’t give up on love, because even if you don’t go looking for it it’ll find you, look at me and your brother, you never know, Cornell could be the one for me, after all I’ve been through, like that Betty Wright song says, No Pain No Gain
Kaylonie- now that’s what I’m talking about (starts singing) see you can’t give up cuz times get hard, it’s just that old devil trying to tear us apart, say devil you ain’t got nuthin here, I’m holdin to my man and have no fear, cuz no pain, no gain
They all laugh.
Aashene- that’s true, you just gotta hang in there
Clara- not me, cuz all I ever sing is After the Pain, after somebody’s done me wrong they always wanna come back, but not anymore
Kaylonie- so what about Murphy Lee
Clara- forget Murphy Lee, he had nearly 10 years to say how he felt, it’s too late for him now, he sat around and watched me go through two good for nuthin boyfriends and didn’t do anything for me, forget this yall I gotta get out of here (gets up, goes to her room gets dressed and leaves)
Chelle- dang, she doesn’t seem too happy
They laugh.
Clara left and drove to her job, she figured she could work while no one was there. To her surprise a car was there. She went in anywayz and found Batman from Immature.
Clara- Marques, what are you doin here?
Marques- Jerome is at the studio with your brother so I came here to help him catch up on some work
Clara- oh
Marques- what are you doin here?
Clara- (sighs) just to do some work and get away for a minute
Marques- oh, well don’t worry, I won’t be in your way
Clara- it’s cool, I’ll be in my office
Marques- aiight
Clara walks off.
Marques- (remembers something) oh snap (gets up)
Clara- (walks in her office) who the hell are you?
Marques- (runs in behind her) Clara this is my brother Omari, Omari this is Clara, and this is her office
Omari- my bad, I was just in here reading some of your stuff, it’s real good, but I’m sorry, I was bored
Clara- (smiles) it’s okay
Marques- it’s my fault, I asked him to come, I didn’t know I was gonna be here this long
Clara- it’s cool, I could use some company
Marques- okay (walks off) I thought she said she needed to get away (shrugs)
Omari- sorry about goin through your stuff, I was gonna put it all back before you got back
Clara- (laughs) it’s coo, what were you looking at?
Omari- (picks up there papers he was reading) some story about a lady who had a baby by this man then he comes back and the lil girl starts trippin, it’s good, I’m not finished yet though
Clara- oh, that’s Wanting Her Love, so what are you doing here?
Omari- just chillin with my brother, we’re supposed to be meeting with Jerome, Kelton and Chris cuz me and my homeboys are in a group
Clara- coo, what’s the name of it?
Omari- Universal Lovers
Clara- coo, I’ve never heard Jerome talk about u, but I did see him writing something about it one day
Omari- yeah, we just got signed so we don’t want everybody to know we’re out before we can lay down a track
Clara- oh I feel you
Omari- so why are you at work on your day off?
Clara- just to get away from my problems issues and hectic life
Omari- I don’t know you, but Jerome told me you broke up with your boyfriend
Clara- figures everyone knows
Omari- yeah, Rome really has a thing for you; you set him up with some girl with a funny name?
Clara- yeah, my best friend Aashene
Omari- yeah, he likes her, but if you ask me he likes you a whole lot better, but he says Aashene is growing on him
Clara- that’s good, at least somebody will be happy
Omari- I don’t mean to get all in your business, but why are you unhappy?
Clara- because …it’s a lot of stuff
Omari- I heard that talking about it helps (Clara looks at him funny) I’m a psychology major
Clara- really?
Omari- yeah, I’m in my 5th year of school, probably won’t finish though because the singing bug bit me
Clara- so, are you good in your major?
Omari- I’m pretty good, top in my class so far
Clara- okay then, so maybe you can help me sort things out
Omari- I’m all ears …so why are you so unhappy
Clara- because, my love life is in shackles
Omari- elaborate
Clara- my ex boyfriend broke up with me, my first love came back earlier trying to have sex with me even though he’s about to get married, I didn’t go through with it though, and my childhood/lifelong crush asked me out, I don’t feel like any of them really love me, and I just feel like I shouldn’t commit again so soon, because that was my past mistake, as soon as I broke up with one boyfriend I got with another, and all of these were long term relationships
Omari- damn, that’s f-cked up …Oops I meant …
Clara starts laughing.
Omari- my bad
Clara- so what should I do Mr. Psychologist?
Omari- I don’t think that you should hook up with anybody else right now, you need to concentrate on you and what makes you happy
Clara- yeah, I know, but then I can’t help thinking about my boyfriend …well my ex, I just keep hoping he comes back to me, that’s why I couldn’t hook up with my first love, because, well my ex was my first and only, and I just couldn’t put my mind around the idea of being with anybody else, and it seems as if I’m gonna always feel this way and I’ll be stuck in love with him forever
Omari- I don’t think so, don’t let him hold you back, I’m quite sure someone else has the key to your heart
Clara- I hope so
Omari- but I tell you one thing, you don’t need to be restricted by four walls, you need to get out and enjoy your day, go to the beach, get out in the sun, don’t just stay inside, be free, because that’s what you are
Clara- you know what …you’re right, but I’m not used to wandering the town alone, so how about you join me
Omari- (shrugs) sure, why not
