These are indeed intriguing thoughts. I'm surprised that there's not more religious thought along these lines.

As an atheist, I have a built-in desire to explain all without invoking mystical and unexplainable powers from God and other miracles. However, it seems unusual to me that such a deep and philosophical film wouldn't utilize any notion of God as-we-know-it. After all, most people do believe in a supreme being, including most filmmakers, I would imagine. Filmmakers exploring such issues rarely avoid injecting their own religious views into the "message". And yet, I've seen very little thought that Neo is an honest to goodness messiah from God and that his "One-ness" is based on the will and holy power of God, as opposed to the more mundane, secular explanations I've seen.

Don't get me wrong. I would love to see this whole thing be a story that doesn't invoke God directly. I guess I'll just be surprised if he doesn't pop up somewhere. And, no, the Architect doesn't qualify as God, at least not as seen so far.
