Subject: solutions and several religious insights

Great stuff in this forum! Please allow me to add my 2 cents.
First, 2 solutions / possible explanations:

1.1. Persephone is the mother of the matrix. Neo is just a programme - being the One. Neo is reprogrammed by Persephone through the kiss - that's why he chooses the left door (when all the other 6 Ones before him had chosen the other door - the disciples and the repopulation of Zion). She changes his parameters because she's the one sensitive to his emotions - their love that was written all over their faces - she makes sure that their love lasts, makes sure Neo saves Trinity. This also goes well with the thing the Oracle says - that his choices are already made - he's already been programmed to make those choices - so, for him to go out the other door, Persephone needs to change his programme.

1.2. The spoon Neo receives - it's a reminder that he is still in the matrix - only the parameters have changed. remember the spoon in Matrix 1? it was more slender, shinier, easier to bend. The second one was rougher - showing that more effort was needed in order to bend it. He was still in the matrix, but the parameters were diferent.

Scond, the religious references are impossible to miss. However, they are a little screwed up - different then in our reality. Please bear with me - I might sound crazy but most of what I am writing here has some real basis.

2.1. Lets start with the Oracle, although it's not an easy one. Her guardian, Seraph, is the key - she is the "Tree of Knowledge". Remember, after the Exodus - Adam eating the apple from Eve, being banished, God moves the tree from the garden and puts guardians around it, so that no other be tempted. The guardians were called Seraphim, angel-type creatures who carried swords of fire - hence the golden inner light of the Oracle's guardian - his aura. Again, remember the red pill - kind of like the apple from the Tree of Knowledge, isn't it? Morpheus had one in the beginning and we all wondered how he came by it. Reload shows where it's comming from. So she is more than merely a prophet talking about the comming of The One.

2.2. Very important - the "Merovingian". The question people should ask is why it was the Merovingian who had the keymaker? There are theories saying that The Mervingians come from the bloodline of Jesus Christ. they are a real historically atested dynasty of kings - they are mentioned around 500 AD in the North-west of Italy, and later they become the dynasty that ruled France (hence the french accent in the movie) until around 1000 AD. They were also the founders of the Order of the Templars which, even though was destroyed, reemerged as the order of Freemasons. The Freemasons (the ex-merovingians) claimed that they had secret teachings. They had a secret way of reaching God, of getting to know the misteries of God. Going back to the Merovingian - he had the keymaker - the one who could access the secret corridors that led to The Source. I think the Merovingian will play an important role in the 3rd movie.

2.3. The Architect - straight forward reference - in Freemason ritual, God is refered to as The Architect.

2.4. Neo, again, is a kind of Jesus. Think about the choice he has to make at the Source - It's like the choice Jesus had to make in the Garden. Jesus had to choose between asumming his role as the Saviour and dying or forgetting about the whole thing, resume his life as Jesus of Nazareth. Neo has exactly the same choice, albeit twisted - be The One, choose disciples and rebuild Zion, do the will of the Architect or decline and take his chances in the Matrix.

2.5. Persephone is the "mother of the Matrix", and there is a dark side of her - the name is the name of wife of Hades, ruler of the Underworld and the reation of the Architect at Neo's menitioning of her points to "Lilith" - the wife of Adam, before Eve, created from earth not flesh. Banished by God for being evil she is mentioned as the Succubus, the seductress. Also, in some instances she appears as the "wife of God". She steals the semen of men, becomes pregnant and bears demonic children. Maybe that kiss is more than programming... we'll see.

2.6. Agent Smith - we could make him the Devil. Ag. Smith is an enforcer ("angel" for the Architect-God) turned evil, virus. Remember Matrix 1 - Smith said he wanted out; he didn't like the Matrix; he was starting to rebel (just like Lucifer who didn't like the order God made in the world and in heaven). In Reload, the rebelion increases - he corrupts other "angels" (enforcers), turnes them into one of him. Also, he turns into a real "player", before Neo enters "the Source", he says "Haven't you figured it out yet? I want it all". Apparently just leaving the Matrix is not enough, Agent Smith wants control. Of course he still fights Neo because he poses a threat to the Matrix as a whole.

2.7. The puzzle is Neo and the Oracle. The Oracle is more than just a prophet and Neo is not quite like Jesus. In our world, the prophets who spoke of Jesus were "working for God", in the movie the Oracle is not, is separate from the Architect. She influences Neo against doing the Architect's work.

Also, Reload revolves around the eternal human question - what is the purpose of one's life.
