I have been to all types of concerts or shows. It is true that the better concerts are the ones where the audience is up, more engaged and recieving full enjoyment from the show, but I also think that this is not the only way for a performer and the audience to interact. I have been to places where there is a guy singing in the background but is able to have commentary from the audience. This in my opinion is more interaction then a couple 1000 drunk people below a stage where half of the people are not paying attention. It is the places, in my experience, that have free shows where there is a potential lack of interaction and in many cases, people will leave if they are not enjoying themselves. On the other hand, when peope buy tickets to a show to see someone that they like or potentially like, they are there to have fun and enjoy the music.

Just like one of the three guys that came into class. They enjoy the shows where people come, sit down and listen to their music. He said that they are not usually talking and that they came to hear them play. In this sense, there is absolutly no interaction except for people sharing at them and clapping at the end of the song.
