Yesterdays class was the first oppurtunity for us to see a banjo player perform. After listening to the music, i could tell why people say banjo players have the biggest ego, there instrument is incredibly loud. Sounding much superior to all the other instruments. Another interesting idea about tuesdays performers was the talk aboout the picking sessions. I believe the woman was talking about it, saying that she has known people for years and when they sit next to eachother at these sessions, there is really no conversation. Intimidation was also a factor for her becasue she was the only woman at these picks for awhile. I was pondering if these groups excluded people or showed signs of isolation from individuals but from what the performers stated, these picks are very friendly and a good place where one can easily learn and become one of these pickers. I believe one of them claimed you can sit around th outside of the circle and listen or watch them play, this wold be a good mechanism to use if you aare a beginner.
