It's probably just a typographical error, but Mike has mispelled traveller as Gaeilge. I'll bet he's reading out of An Focl�ir P�ca which is printed in about 4 pt typeface, and requires the eyes of a hawk to read accurately. At any rate, the word is "taisteala�," and for some reason is given in the plural. It means travelers. By the way, "lucht," when used to mean a group of people is also plural.

If you were after the word for student or scholar, a good choice would be "dalta" which is "dalta�" in the plural form. If your intention is to say traveling or wandering scholars, I believe "Na dalta� si�il," would be understood by a native speaker.
