A chara,
If I just happen to be walkin' through downtown Scranton and see 'The Banshee', I step inside for a cúpla piontaí. But, I'm guessing that's not the one you mean.
A banshee in the legends is usually an old woman dressed in rags, who's mournful cries and singing predict disaster and death for the person or someone close to or family member of the one who sees her.
She often appeared in the bogs washing her clothes until the water churns red with the blood from her hands or outside of someone's house, singing (predicting a death in the family).
She's brought sorrow on the persons who've stumbled into her lair and wreaked havoc on entire armies.
Avoid the banshee at any cost! Unless you just happen to be walkin' through Scranton.
Slán,
Maidhc.
