 Hmmm, I see your point about the mermaid form. (Though I admit, I have to reread that volume.) However I suppose that they took the symbolism out off story-context. In this case, for a mermaid to carelessly swim into wreckage might mirror the fool not looking where he goes to tumble over a cliff. Well, artists at work. As Ammie already said, CLAMP tend to do things solely for the purpose of coolness and however strange its symbolism might be, the Fool is one cool card. :)

As for Yuuto's slaves, not even Kamui could lounge so nicely in front of him as those two girls do, the V-shape would deny it. ^_- ... but I really like how they gave him horns by placing the reversed pentagram behind his head. ^^;
