Hello, I was wondering if someone might be able to answer a question for me here. I may be moving to the Phoenix area and I am wondering if RUTS Arizona is still together? I click the RUTS Arizona link on your home page and page cannot be displayed. I used to ride with some Rovers (BC) in California and did a couple of your races out at Lucern and would very much like to get hooked up with some believing riders out there. Please let me know if there is anyone out there I might be able to contact.

Thank you very much

I just wanted to take a moment to publicly thank Roger and Judy for all that they do to support the racers in the club. They have been at countless desert races to provide great pit support. What they do is truly a ministry that touches the lives of many people that they may not even realize.

Someone from Badgers has put a message on the D37 message board that they are looking for their trophy, and are having a hard time contacting anyone in RUTS. I talked to Judy Butterworth today, and she thinks that Eddie Walker might have them. I tried Eddie's number, but it seemed to be disconnected. Is there anyone who knows for sure who has the trophies, and can contact that person to tell them to get a hold of Arnie from Badgers?

There are some individuals that are saying that we left the Buttes area a bit messy. Apparerently some "No Camping" signs and also some stakes may have been left on the course.

Are there any local RUTS members willing and or able to give the Buttes a drive through?

Are there any RUTS members willing to ride the course in the next few weeks to see if ther is anything OBVIOUS that we left behind?

If so, please post here so some others may join you if possible.

The general RULE should ALWAYS be to take out a bit more then you came in with.

Each person should be responsible for his / her area....
Camp, Home check, BBQ, course, etc...Since the "no camping" signs are nto really Anybodys responsibility, its quite possible that they DIDNT get all taken down.

Anybody up for a ride in the enxt week or so?

I have never felt the Holy Spirit so supporting a message that I have given. The prayer support that I could feel was almost overwelming when I got up to speak. THANK YOU and PRAISE TO THE KING!! Also, I want to thank each of you who shared words of encouragement with me after the message. And now we all need to get some rest and pray for those who heard the message that the Savior will water the seed that was planted!! Again, thank you for your support!!

I was approached by some of the meltdown racers late Sunday and was asked if they could buy the video they seen Saturday night. They were amazed on how fast and great it turned out. I told them Scotty was the genius that put it together and makes movies in Hollywood. (Just joking on the Hollywood part) I had to work Saturday night and did not see it and can’t wait. So Scotty how do you do?

If I got this right my dad and Stacia will be with the Kleins and Ellis's and I will be helping Jeff Butterworth man an area were potential course cutting may occur. Correct???

1) The newsletter should be on the website. If you didnt get it, please download and read it.
2) We need merchandise donations for the raffle on Sat night. Please ask your local bike shop if they have any hard to sell items that theya re willing to part with. We will mention there donation at the BBQ and would also give them a tax write off letter for there donation.
3) We need some folding tables and ice chests for the BBQ. please put your name on them witha permanent marker and drop them off at the stage if your able to.
4) Meeting is at 830 at sign ups on Friday night. Meltdown Tee Shirts will be given out to all RUTS members in attendance who are working the race for the weekend. The remainder fo the shirts will be sold, so be at the meeting to get yours!

After we all ride the "A" course together and lightly ribbon turns we'll return and start one to a minute. The object is to ride two laps in exactly the same time. No watches or timekeeping equipment will be allowed. Ride at your own SAFE pace. CONSISTANCY is the goal. Sunday will be free time for anyone who wants to stay. Official ride is Saturday.

I just bought the race light, and I will be going out to practice within the next couple of weeks. If anyone else from RUTS is participating in any night races, and could also use extra practice give me a call (760)247-3378. Hey ruts... so I have a mechanical question. My bike (05 RM 250) has been popping into neutral alot lately, and its getting worse. At the race this weekend it did it about five times, once going down a straight away. At first I thought it was my big feet, but its not. I'm thinking its something in the transmission, which would mean spliting the cases. If anyone one has any other guess to the problem I would love the input, and if their is anyone that would know how to fix it, I would much rather pay a ruts member than a shop.
Thanks guys

Dear RUTS family,
As many of you already know, Mike Martin was in a serious motorcycle accident 10 days ago. Many of you may not know Mike, so let me give you a little history on him...Mike had been with us for about 4 years now. While not making the rides as often as he may like this year, Mike has been a constant supporter and prayer warrior for this group. Many of you may know Mike as the "ridiculously fast guy on the orange bike". Mike is always the first one to help you when you needed a hand.

Mike, by trade, is an equipment operator. He owns his own business and is the sole provider for the family. He is currently out of work and might be for quite some time. I am asking that all of us continue to keep Mike and the entire Martin family in our prayers. For a speedy recovery and to give the doctors the wisdom and guidance they need.

Here are some pictures of Mike http://picasaweb.google.com/scotty.a.burnett/MikeMartin#5316243980119257730

What we are asking of you now, during these trying financial times, is to give what you are able to give, even if its only $5 or $10. In the parable of the widows offering Jesus tells us that giving out of our poverty is pleasing to God. Monetary gifts of any size are truly appreciated and when you give from your heart your return is tenfold. This could be any one of us, and what an opportunity we have to give to a fellow brother in Christ! The Martin family is in need of our help and we are a family with tremendous resources when we work together!

There are 3 ways to give:
1. PayPal - do a "Send Money" through PayPal to mike.martin.concrete@gmail.com Anyone who has been on Ebay has one of these and it's probably the easiest and quickest way to transfer funds. (DON’T SEND ANY EMAIL TO THIS ADDRESS, its just set up for pay-pal.)
2. Make a deposit at any Chase/WAMU bank. We have set up an account for the Martin Family. All you have to do is walk into ANY BRANCH with the account number and it will be deposited into his account. Easy Peasy! The account number is ....(email me for it)... and is the name of Robert Murray (a banker friend who set it up, also a friend of Mikes)
3. Send a check. You can send a check made out to Scott Burnett or Robert Murray and we will make sure that this money gets to his new Chase account. My address is 1314 Old Ranch Road Corona, CA 92630

The Martin family holds a special place in the hearts of many of us. If you are able to give at all, I know that it will be truly appreciated and that it will be blessed as will you!
The money raised will be used by Mikes family to keep the electricity on, gas in the car, food on the table and other necessitates, while Mike is recovering.

Thanks,
Scott Burnett
Call me with ANY questions…
949-689-5078

Kudos to Dan O'Connell and Robert Murray from InTheDirt.org for helping set this up for the Martin's. They have been a true blessing!

Mike Martin was in a motorcycle accident at Dove Springs on Sat. at 1pm. He is at Loma Linda hospital in ICU and needs our prayers. He has a broken thumb, 2 collapsed lungs, 8 broken ribs, his spleen is torn in 3 places, and 2 broken vertebrae. He has NO paralysis, PRAISE GOD!!!, as the broken back is not near his spinal cord. They hope the spleen will heal itself. The major concern today is about internal bleeding. He has tubes in his lungs and a button to control the pain. He has been conscious the whole time, but didn't get any pain medicine until 9pm Sat. night. His church family was at the hospital with him all night. His wife Nicole is asking all of us to Pray right now.

We'll post updates as we get them.

Thanks to everyone who helped at Racers MC Slash X Desert Scrambles. Special thanks to the Paces, Mills, Greens, Kleins, Jason, Julie & all the other support people. Really special thanks to Brad for driving way over to check 2 to get a broken riders.

We had a great turnout and beautiful weather. The course was dusty and rocky, did I mention rocky. Oh, did we mention rocky. We had 19 racers and 7 DNFs (maybe it had something to do with the ROCKS!!) Brad, no more flat tires! Art got T-boned. Great job on Collin's first race. Also, Dave's daughter (Tammy) did good as well. No thanks to James, he beat me again!

We all need to pray for Rodney's quick recovery. He was within 1 mile of the finish dicing it with Jason. Jason turned around at the finish and no Rodney. Rodney, get well quick, Rovers is in 3 weeks.

Sorry we won't be at Racers MC this weekend. Our son doesn't turn 12 until the end of May and is dying to race, so we promised him we would let him race USDR this weekend.

Are any other RUTSters going to be out there? We will be camping Friday-Sunday. Look for the RUTS flag on our truck.

There were a bunch of riders at the Poker Run who know each other through the Dirt Rider Magazine online forum. There's a lot of buzz on the forum (including a post from the lost rider)about the eventful weekend that they experienced with us. Here's the link:

Please pray for the owners of Glen Helen. The single engine Pilatus PC-12 carrying 14 people that went down on aproach to Butte Montana was theirs. All on board perished. Bud was not at the controls, he was driving to meet them, but apparently some of his kids were onboard.

I just talked to mike in ICU and he is doing as good as can be expected. He has a partially collapsed lung on one side and a minor issue on the other. He does have 8 broken ribs though which is going to take time to heal. He seems to be in pretty good spirits right now; and we need to keep praying for him and his family.

The good news is, he was able to ride his bike back to the trucks which were about 4-5 miles from where he crashed (desert racers are tough) for his friends to get him loaded up. If you do not know Mike, I will tell you he is an excellent rider (expert) and more importantly a GREAT guy.

Heal up soon Mike, we still need to get that ride in.:)

Randsburg is preparing for the influx of Lost Mine participants this weekend. Wildflowers are blooming out there right now and the rattlesnakes are waking up from their long winter's nap. Besides the two Poker Run loops on Saturday there will be a ride to the Husky Memorial on Friday and a ride on Sunday organized by DirtRider.com forum West Coast. Bring some firewood and join us for campfire fellowship Saturday night.

Does anyone know if the new sound system (with the throw rug) is going to be at the Poker Run? I was considering brining my piano to play along for worship on Saturday (or Friday) worship. Just considering something new.....

Hey all,

I'm looking to buy a hitch mount hauler for my 450 and I know a few of you use them. Can anyone recomend a good brand, or one to avoid? I want an aluminum one. I could make a steel one, but my back would not like taking that in and out.

Thanks,
Jason Kleber

This is unreal!
Bill Will Ban Riders Under 16
Mar 10 2009 12:59PM Comment ShareThis Email Print
Flowers Bill Would Prohibit Youth Riding.
Illinois House bill 3914, introduced by Rep. Mary Flowers (D-Chicago), would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to operate an all-terrain vehicle or off-highway motorcycle. The proposed legislation would also make it illegal to transport a passenger on an ATV or OHM regardless of whether the vehicle is configured for a passenger. The bill would also require ATV and OHM riders to have valid driver's licenses and wear helmets.
This legislation was referred to the rules committee on February 26th.
To find your elected representatives, visit http://www.amadirectlink.com/legisltn/rapidresponse.asp, click on "Statewatch" and then enter your zip + 4 code.
The text of HB 3914 is available on the "Rights" page of http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com. Additional updates will be posted as they become available.
As many of you all ready know about the push from some state representitives for the banning of all riding of ANY mini bikes or mini ATVs by kids under 16.
Please take a few minutes and make a simple call, tell them your name and phone number and when you can be reached.

Some of you may remember Brian Henenway. He is Bruce's cousin and was active in the club in the late eighty's and early ninety's. His wife Lynda went to be with the Lord this week. It was unexpected. She had an illness that came on quickly. Please keep Brian in your prayers and her son Rico. Mike and Bruce are there to welcome her into eternity. The service is going to be at Living Stone Cathedral 37721 N. 100th St. East Sun Village, Ca. 93543 on Sunday at 2PM.
