Subject: Update on Mike Martin!!!

Author:

[Edit]

Date Posted: 11:41:16 03/23/09 Mon

I just talked to mike in ICU and he is doing as good as can be expected. He has a partially collapsed lung on one side and a minor issue on the other. He does have 8 broken ribs though which is going to take time to heal. He seems to be in pretty good spirits right now; and we need to keep praying for him and his family.

The good news is, he was able to ride his bike back to the trucks which were about 4-5 miles from where he crashed (desert racers are tough) for his friends to get him loaded up. If you do not know Mike, I will tell you he is an excellent rider (expert) and more importantly a GREAT guy.

Heal up soon Mike, we still need to get that ride in.:)

Randsburg is preparing for the influx of Lost Mine participants this weekend. Wildflowers are blooming out there right now and the rattlesnakes are waking up from their long winter's nap. Besides the two Poker Run loops on Saturday there will be a ride to the Husky Memorial on Friday and a ride on Sunday organized by DirtRider.com forum West Coast. Bring some firewood and join us for campfire fellowship Saturday night.

Bill Will Ban Riders Under 16
Mar 10 2009 12:59PM Comment ShareThis Email Print
Flowers Bill Would Prohibit Youth Riding.
Illinois House bill 3914, introduced by Rep. Mary Flowers (D-Chicago), would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to operate an all-terrain vehicle or off-highway motorcycle. The proposed legislation would also make it illegal to transport a passenger on an ATV or OHM regardless of whether the vehicle is configured for a passenger. The bill would also require ATV and OHM riders to have valid driver's licenses and wear helmets.
This legislation was referred to the rules committee on February 26th.
To find your elected representatives, visit http://www.amadirectlink.com/legisltn/rapidresponse.asp, click on "Statewatch" and then enter your zip + 4 code.
The text of HB 3914 is available on the "Rights" page of http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com. Additional updates will be posted as they become available.
As many of you all ready know about the push from some state representitives for the banning of all riding of ANY mini bikes or mini ATVs by kids under 16.
Please take a few minutes and make a simple call, tell them your name and phone number and when you can be reached.

She had an illness that came on quickly. Please keep Brian in your prayers and her son Rico. Mike and Bruce are there to welcome her into eternity. The yearly Soboba ride is coming up on March 1st. This will be my 3rd year riding it. It's an epic ride and a real treat to some of the best and most beautiful trails in So Cal.

It's about two 30 miles loops, with the second being more technical than the first. It's suited for intermediate to expert riders.

Unfortunately, there is no camping aloud, so it's not a so much a family event unless the whole family rides and is pretty advanced.

There was a decent RUTS turnout last year. Anyone interested in going can check more details on the ride and download an entry form (it's $70 per entry) from http://www.irs-media.net/sobobarides/

God bless you all,
David

Me and a couple buddies are doing this ride. If you can make it let me know and I will sign you up with the promoter. Space is limmited so let me know ASAP and I will try to get us all a spot. Its a 100 mile ride mostly in my back yard of ANZA and the surrounding trails above Hemet.I rode up there last week and got into 8 inches of snow it was awesome but tough. Hope you and any of your friends can make it.
The ride is at 12 noon sunday and will take about 3 hrs, easy to intermediate But no adventure tourer bikes, we will get into some tight single tracks probably. That is if I have anything to do with it=).
PS I am going to pass around flyers and ask for donations at work to raise more money. I signed up for $100.00 donation and the organiser said I could upgrade to the front of the line if I pull in more money. We have a month to do this, should be easy. I was thinking a $?? a mile at 100 miles. should raise some money.I can send you the flyer for your work if you want.

Hope to see all my buddies for a good cause.
My contact info is 951-537-8570.

PS:
Dean Forward this to any RUTS you know of who might want to go, we could sign up as a CLUB. Thanks Mr. President

The memorial service for Jimmy Finnerty was a beautiful one. It was standing room only. There were four Rutsters there, and the district was in full force. At the end of the chapel service, there was not a dry eye in the house. Jim's younger brother put Jim's son on his bike and pushed him down the isle of the chapel, with Jim's helmet on. At the grave side, they started a moment of silence whith reving of about ten four stroke bikes, and then silence, they put Jim's son on the bike and let him rev Jim' bike, again not a dry eye to be found.
The one verse that comes to me about something like this is John 3:31
I was feeling very torn up about not being able to share about the Lord with him on that day when I was talking to him a the pits, but every thing was happenning so fast. When I talked to his father at the service, I asked him how Jim's walk with the lord was, and he said that Jimmy was saved and he was close to the lord. This was what I believe the lord saying do not let the devil have his way with your faith ,and your trust in the Lord. We as humans think we know what is best, but we are to trust in the Lord at all times.

Good Morning, I see the new 2009 ride schedule but there are no dates on there yet? Do we have any dates for these rides? I know it is usually the 3rd weekend of each month but some of the months start off the 1st on a Sunday? So not sure what weekend they fall on. Any help would be great so I can plan my work schedule around it.

Thanks and God bless,
Steve

Thanks to all who helped make this event a pleasure to attend, Dave K and Danny Z for local knowledge and TONS of WOOD, we used every twig. Temps were warm on 1/1 then windy and cooler on 1/2 then COLD on 1/3 and COLDER today. Had a nice rain/hail shower Sat AM followed by overcast but nice riding weather. Very little dust awesome loamy traction and best of all great fellowship.
Thanks also to new Pres Dean for marking in with stakes and arrows and leading us on some great rides. There are lots of future possibilities for this area. One of the coolest highlights was watching Anaheim I, live via sat in Dean and Annie's motorhome. What a great treat.
It sure was great to meet new friends and see so many old faces again I wish there was more time to fellowship with you!
God Bless you all in 2009

Hello and Happy New Year to all. David and I were wondering about Pits at the Jackrabbits race. The last 2 years we had helped out at the race with the Halls. So far this year we haven't heard anything about any pits this year. I'm just looking for a little help. David and I are willing to work the pits and are even planning to cook lunch for everyone, but we have never run the pits all by ourselves. I don't even know were the pit box is or if I've missed the pits sign up meeting for this year. Any help would be great. You can e-mail us or post here. Thanks Rachael dreberhardt@verizon.net

Marry Christmas and happy new year to all the RUTS. To all the racers good job on all your new numbers for 2009. It was fun eating all your dust out there. We will see you all in the Dez.
