Hi RUTS family,
It's been a long time since we've been out with RUTS. Mike travels a lot for work so just not able to get in the garage and work on bikes and pack up for a weekend ride. We are all well. Our children, Keaton (21 yrs old) and Kylie (19) are in college- can you believe it? They both started riding on a PW 50 with training wheels. God continues to bless us again and again and agin. We are so grateful to Him! Last week, Mike was in Colorado so I flew out there for the weekend and we stayed at the McCracken home! It was so good to see them. We had a great time. Mike was able to do some riding on Neil's bike. Their oldest, Chris, got married in August, Scott is living in Parker and has his own little house. Alyssa is 7 yrs. old and is as cute as can be. She certainly is daddy's little girl, but yet can sing like her mother.Neil is involved in the worship ministry at church.
May you be blessed as you worship our KING, Jesus Christ, this Easter weekend! We miss you all!

Hello Scott and all RUTS members!

Hey, we just want to say thanks so much for the donation you sent! We are totally encouraged by it and of course to be members of RUTS.

May the Lord totally bless the continued ministry of RUTS as you reach the dirt biking community there and even to the ends of the earth like here in the Nation of Georgia!

You guys are making a difference and you have not forgotten the lost in other nations. How can the Lord not bless this?

Greetings to all,

Hi everyone!! I hope you are looking for to our time in Ocotillo as much as I am. It is supposed to be warm and no rain in site. You can get the directions off of the home page, but we need some folks to bring some fire wood. If you can bring some can you post it here. Also, I would like to take an offering of any of your loose change that you have with you during the weekend or any you want to bring from home to go towards purchasing water filters for people in Africa so that they can have clean water to drink. So if you have any loose change please bring it. We will have worship and devotions Saturday night and Sunday morning by myself. I am getting over a separated shoulder so we are going to need some help guiding on some of the rides. If your comimg please let us know, especially if you can bring any fire wood. If you have any questions please contact Kevin or myself. Looking forward to having our usual great time in the Dez!!

First i wanted to say Thank you to Tom Moore and his family for running the pits on Saturday i hear they had a bunch of Racers to take care of.We had 12 riders on Sunday and lots of pit help so things went well until Sam Fuller crashed and it appears he broke his collar bone so lets send out some prayer for Sam,Brad pace took 3rd overall,Chad Rager won his class and was 11th overall,Travis stopped for Sam and had to take a DNF but that is ok as he did the right thing,302 Nills Davis stopped to help w101 who broke her collar bone and lost alot of time,All n all it was a good weekend for Ruts except for Sam getting hurt.

Subject: Looks Who's Getting Sponsors for Meltdown!

Julie Angell

Date Posted: 12:16:22 04/06/11 Wed

Hey Everyone,

I want to take a moment to thank those of you who are looking for sponsors for Meltdown.

Michelle Green called me yesterday all excited that she got Travis' dentist to sponsor Meltdown for $100. Next she's going to ask her car mechanic. George Green is working on his local union.

Today, Dave Krenik has a day off work and he's going through a list of about 20 names that I gave him, calling all those manufacturers and motorcycle dealers and former sponsors from our t-shirt. He's been sucessful so far because I just received a logo in my email.

Last year Dave Krenik went to Ralphs grocery store and got a bunch of bottled water for free before the race. He walked in with the sponsor letter and walked out with the water. He went to several Ralphs store and each was happy to give him bottled water. Try that with your grocery store and get us some free hamburger meat and condiments for Meltdown!

Michelle and Dave both agreed it's not that hard. So please, make a couple of calls. Whether we have the money to put on Meltdown next year depends on YOU! We really need to pay for our race UPFRONT this year. Next year we have $4000-$6000 BLM cost recovery fees that have to be paid to the BLM before our race can be put on. We have to use our profit from our race to totally pay for this. We can't be paying for this year's costs from this year's profit.

So, drop by your doctor's office, your dentist's office, your car mechanic's, your local motorcycle shop, the place where you work, and remind them that you've been a loyal customer/employee for years and it's time that they support YOU! Get a sponsor or two and help out RUTS, your favorite riding/racing club that you have so much fun with.

If you need to, you can have until April 10 to get the logo to me. Just let me know so I can expect it a little late. Please follow up to get the money from the sponsor.

Thanks,

Julie Angell

All. I had posted a message last month about a marriage study I did with my small group and wanted to pass along my thoughts on another study our group did.

If you have kids of marriage age (young adults) or have kids that may need some guidance as to how to treat there boyfriend/ girlfriend this is a great study. The study is the book of Song of Solomon by Tommy Nelson. He completely picks appart the responsabilities of the man and women in a relationship According to the Bible. How you should be treating each other, how to talk to each other, romance, respect and more. My boy is 10 and my daughter is 7 but they will be doing this study with Trisha an I when the time comes. This is stuff that the church rarely talks about to kids and never discussed properly is school. This study could also be fantastic for a parrent to use as an ice breaker to be able to open the door to even be able to talk to thier kids. I know some parrents christian or not don't teach there kids about relationships and just let them learn on there own. Highly recommended for younger adults or a single man/woman to use as a guage of the type of person he/she wants in thier life. My recomendations for marriage studys are Love Dare for troubled tense marriages, Love and War study for couples that have a stagnated marriage and Tommy Nelsons study for pre marriage or training for young adults.

Some reason I felt I needed to share this with the club hope it helps at least one person.
And no Trisha and I are doing fine:)
Have a great day all, God bless.

How we have coveted your prayers! Praise God, for he is so GOOD, always!
A BIG Thank You to all those who helped us this weekend when Tom "jumped" off his KTM during a trail ride on Saturday afternoon and sustained a Right Shoulder Separation Injury when he fell. Thank you, Tim Scott, for checking on him after he hit the ground. Thank you, Sonny Harris, for escorting him back to camp. Thanks to all those who prayed, and to all who helped as we packed up to leave early Sunday morning [Sonny Harris, Randy Hettema, & Eric Wilson] AND for laying hands and praying for us on our way out from our Treasure Hunt camp. Eric & Pam, your specific prayers for Tom to be healed miraculously was heard by our wonderful God. We arrived at Urgent Care at 3PM on Sunday. X-rays of Tom's Right Shoulder and Hand both confirmed that nothing was broken. With Ibuprofen, ice, & an arm sling, Tom's pain has subsided substantially, and he is regaining his full range of motion. We just came from Dr's office, and since Tom's Shoulder Separation symptoms are improved, we're taking the "wait and see" route. There will be no further need for care if he continues to improve.
Tom sincerely feels the Lord has touched him, and we have been blessed throughout this ordeal. We are genuinely moved by HIS love and all the care, love, and devotion shown to us by our RUTS family in the dez. May all the glory be for our Father in heaven, and Thank You, Jesus! Praise! Praise! Praise HIM!

Eight weeks so it's not a real long one. Great follow up to the Love Dare study we did last year.

Howdy Folks,

District 37 is selling raffle tickets for a 2011 KTM530EXC. It's a dual sport bike, but you can still race it if you want to. Only 850 tickets will be sold, and the proceeds go to the District 37 Legal Defense Fund to help keep our land open so you, your children, and grandchildren have someplace left to ride.

Tickets are $20 each (for this $10,000 bike) and you can either purchase them from me out at the races on Saturdays at signups or through the mail.

Make your checks payable to District 37 and send your checks to me, along with a self addressed, stamped envelope AND your telephone number, to the following address:

Julie Angell
P.O. Box 2122
Monrovia, CA 91017

I'll write your name and telephone number on the ticket stub and turn those in to Jerry Grabow, the D-37 Off Road President. The other half of the ticket gets mailed to you as your receipt.

You don't have to be present to win. The drawing is supposed to be held at the 100's National H&H in October, but we'll hold it sooner at an Off Road meeting when all the tickets are sold out. We've already sold 460 tickets in just 38 days, so your chance to participate is running out.

Good luck!

P.S. D-37 Dual Sport is donating a free entry to ride the LA-Barstow-to-Vegas dual sport ride (worth $170) to the lucky winner, so start getting in shape to ride 450 miles over next Thanksgiving weekend with me!

Let me know if you will be attending. I will be there Thursday morning early. Will try to camp just around the corner from last year. Out of the dust and noise. One sandy corner to get around, keep your momentum up and should be OK. Bring firewood and prepare for a great weekend... hopefully with only a little rain while sleeping to keep the dust down and create great traction. Bring firewood if you have it. Looks for RUTS arrows if the Ranger does not take them down. I will have my blue light on if arriving at night. Rode both loops this last saturday and the riding was great. Will try to have Supercross on Saturday night along with the rest of the activities. I hear that there is even a birthday to celebrate on Saturday.

It is beautiful up there and way cooler than in the desert, great single track for but not for the beginner level or children, not much for quads except the ride on the jeep road to the river about, 7 miles one way. great camping and fishing opportunities for the whole family even if you don't ride.
So who thinks they will be coming.

Thanks

Hey guys, I'm getting ready for the upcoming Dove Springs ride and need to do a few thinigs to the bike. It's been so long since I've ridden I guess Dunlop stopped making the D756 that's on the front right now.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good replacement? I've got a '95 YZ250 - I'm still not a real aggressive rider, just steady and predictable and I've got no plans to return to racing any time in the near future. Your help would be appreciated.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon, it's been a long time!

More Friends of Jawbone News…DUI check points
Misc, Press Releases — By tgluckman on February 4, 2011 at 1:42 pm

Friends of Jawbone Hosts Law Enforcement Officers Summit:
Cantil, California – The Friends of Jawbone hosted a meeting with law enforcement agencies in conjunction with BLM, California Parks OHMVR Division and Field Representatives for both Kern County’s First District Supervisor Jon McQuiston and Second District Supervisor Zack Scrivner. The outcome of this meeting is a Joint Task Force of the various agencies, including California City Police Department, Ridgecrest Police Department, Kern County Sheriff’s Office, The American Motorcycle Association (AMA) and private landowners. This group will be conducting law enforcement activities on the multiple large holidays that attract so many OHV riders to the area.
Mostly informational, the group is getting the word out about the designated trails, the laws about staying on those trails and consequences of making your own trail. “We want riders to safely enjoy the OHV experience in our area,” states Karen Sanders of the Friends of Jawbone organization. “We want them to have fun, enjoy their lands, but do so in a responsible manner. If not, we could lose the privilege of riding on the designated trails. Especially in the Jawbone Canyon/Dove Springs area there are trails that cut through private property where there is an agreement with the landowner to do so, but if OHVers are not following trails, the landowner can and will shut down those riding areas. It really is a private property issue in this area.”
The Joint Task Force will start by setting up a DUI checkpoint scheduled for the President’s Day Weekend. There will be maps distributed and information given. It is tailored for the public who ride in Jawbone/Dove Springs, the Rands and the El Pasos areas. Patrols will also be increased during this time for safety and infractions. Remember it is illegal to drink and drive any type of motorized vehicle, including off-road vehicles.
Friends of Jawbone is a non-profit public benefit corporation dedicated to the promotion of outdoor recreation in the Jawbone Canyon area. Formed in 1998, Friends of Jawbone supports and develops projects to improve, protect and maintain existing trails and to promote understanding, education and cooperation between all users of public lands.

The new website is finally up! Its been a long time in the making and our "oldie but goodie" website has now been retired. It served the club for many years and much thanks go out to the many webmaster that maintained it including Tony Turner (who created in in 2000), Neil McCracken, Betty Hall and Caprice Zierau.

There is a link to the old site for those wishing to hear that motorcycle sound.

Additional content will be added daily in the days and weeks to come. Content and suggestions welcome!

RUTSTERS please join us in prayer for Michaels friend Ryan. He bought a bike from Dean yesterday, he took it home, unloaded it and decided that he should take for a ride down his alley. Got on,reved it up, popped a wheelie, let go of the throttle and grabbed the front brake. He went over the handle bars, hit a garage door and fractured his shoulder in four places. He had surgery today at 4pm. Dean feels horrible, but in his defense, he did tell him not to get on that bike until he had full gear. Dumb teenage move that will be following him for quite awhile.

Pleaase pray for healing for Ryan and for Dean peace

He is in pain, but they can not operate tonight because lack of OR support. He should go in at 6 am, but it could be in the late afternoon. It just depends on OR avaliblty and the Doctors schedule. I got home at 11 pm and My mother in law was here taking care of Paul. I have received many calls and prayers Thank you. He is in Room 281-B and can be reached by phone at 760-242-2311 extension 2812. It looks like it will be an easy surgery, but the next few hours may change that, so please pray. I will write more later, but I have to go to bed.

Woo Hoo!! Best New years ride I can remember. Dirt was PRIMO!! Weather was as cold as its ever been, but lucky not a drop of rain fell on RUTS camp while a trailer was there. It started snowing / raining alte Sunday afternoon, but camp was cleared out by 12pm.
Thank you Trailboss, Tom Moore, great job! Thank you Sandy for awesome worship around a bon fire on Friday night and the message shared by Tom Moore Jr was great...rining in the new year with a message about Love. Nice!
A sweet set of rides on Friday and Saturday around the Peak with 7 guys was the highlight of my weekend. Great hill climbs and singletrack that just cant be beat!
The squid pit was a fun ride for the kids and a Saturday ride to the Husky was very cold but enjoyable.
Finally, I cant leave out the FROZEN lake that we camped next to. WOW. Should of brough my ice skates.
Fun as always, Thanks RUTS!

How was your weekend? What was your Fremont highlight?....or New Years highlight if you werent with us this year.

Cant wait for New Years 2011.

FREM
Tom Moore just reported that the Fremont area is SPECTACULAR. Its dry, the road is clear, the sun is out, the ground is perfectt for riding and his exact words were "anybody who doesnt come on this trip will really be missing out". Tom told me to post that, he said it is as perfect and beautiful as he has ever seen it. Its not raining there and there are no clouds in the sky. The weather man was wrong for Fremont this year. Forcast was for rain on Wednesday morning. Its raiing here is south OC, but not in the desert.

Tom took the cuddeback enterance and experienced only small puddled with less than 2 inches of water in them.
David Alabran took the traditional enterance and was able to drive around all the puddles with ease.

Both of them are at the lakebed setting up camp.

See you all there!

Super excited about this weekend,
Scott Burnett

RUTS is looking forward to another great year with some new and exciting things on the horizon, the opportunity and honor of pre-race prayer, the increasing participation in the D37 racing community, the possible "Kid's Event" series and the 25th Meltdown make 2011 quite possibly the best year ever for RUTS. If you feel led to serve God in any way through RUTS, opportunities abound, see any officer, trustee or trail boss and your talents and gifts will be so appreciated.

Subject: Prayer @ District 37 Races

Author:
ScottyB
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 01:07:41 12/02/10 Thu

We have spoken about prayer during the D37 races at our last few RUTS meetings, so allow me to share this weekends prayer event at RHR.

For those that have missed the RUTS meetings recently…

Disctrict 37 and the BLM now require all races to have a mandatory riders meeting at sign ups or the start line just prior to the start of all D37 races. The new rule is in direct response to the recent deaths at an off road race off Bessimer Mine road a few months ago. This has opened doors for RUTS to "offer" to all event cordinators (race refs) our willingness to pray for the race and racers just before or just after this riders meetings.

This weekend wasn’t the first time RUTS has prayed at a race, but it was the first time for me. At race sign ups, I approaced the organizer (Sheri Kibbi) and "offered" to pray for the race during the upcoming riders meeting. She was thrilled and eagerly accepted the offer.

At the riders meeting, I stood off to the side while Jerry Grabow led the riders meeting in front of 5 BLM officers and about 250 riders. When Jerry finished he asked Sheri if there was anything else….she pointed to me and I nervousely took the microphone.

With my RUTS jersey and my RUTS ballcap on, I asked the racers to bow their heads with me and then thanked the Lord for the opportunity to race and prayed for safety for the racers, the event volunteers, boredom for rescue three (drew some giggles) and a blessing on the event, before closing the prayer in Jesus name.

it was short, no more than about 30 seconds. There were no interuptions, and it was well received. There was a very loud AMEN from the 200+ racers just before they all started their bikes in unison to head off to the starting line. It went very well and the surprising part of the whole thing was this…

Jerry Grabow, President of D37, approached me afterwards and asked if RUTS would please pray at the riders meetings of EVERY disctrict 37 event from now on. It was NOT a comment in passing, it was a direct request from the Prez himself. WOW! We could not ask for a bigger door to be opened to share the Good News with the disctrict racers.

Our opportunity is upon us and we need to let every racer, pit captain, officer or member of RUTS know that SOMEBODY needs to be ready to pray at the riders meeting at every race. We are represented at every race, so there should be no reason why we cant do this each and every time. The prayer we say doesn’t have to be long or drawn out, It might actually be better if its not. The person doing it would ideally have a RUTS jersey on and should let themselves be known to the race organizer PRIOR to the riders meeting.

If we take a little bit of initiative on this, it will become routine and expected from the racers ……and God will receive th glory for a long time to come. Think about how many seeds might be planted in the years to come all because the BLM now requires riders meetings…all beause an accident at a truck race. This proves Romans 8:28
"We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God-those whom He has called according to His plan."

Would you like to go to Grand Prix this weekend on Catalina Island ?

I am planning to take my boat over. We can stay/sleep on the boat and have a great time. Please call me ASAP and I will give you all the details.

Are any other RUTS planning on riding Barstow to Vegas? I'm riding Saturday's leg (Barstow to Vegas). My friend and I will be leaving first thing Saturday morning and riding all the hard ways-which really aren't all that hard, but they are long. If you're going and are interested in joining us, let me know.
