The Marine Corps is studying it's needs to meet the Marine Corps Expeditionary Brigade (MEB) sustained, combined arms, live-fire and maneuver training requirements. The scoping meetings are designed to solicit input from stakeholders, the affected public and agencies regarding issues or interests that should be studied or the reasonable alternatives that should be considered for the study moving forward. Each of the three scoping meetings will consist of an informal, open house session with information stations staffed by Marine Corps representatives. Public comment forms will be available and gathered at the information stations, and a stenographer will be available to take oral comments for inclusion in the record.
At this time the Marine Corps is studying five potential base expansion alternatives and a No Action Alternative. These study alternatives include:
Alternatives 1 & 4 – Add 188,000 acres West of the base and 22,000 acres South of the base. These alternatives effectively include expansion in to all of the Johnson Valley OHV-Multiple Use Area. Training movements and live-fire exercises differ between Alternative 1 and 4.

Alternative 2 – Add 122,000 acres West of the base and 22,000 acres South of the base. This alternative includes most of the Johnson Valley OHV-Multiple Use Area.

Alternative 3 – Add 228,000 acres East of the base and 22,000 acres South of the base. This alternative does not include expansion into Johnson Valley.

Alternative 5 – Add 188,000 acres West of the base only (Johnson Valley).

No Action Alternative – Marine Corps will seek no additional lands, MEB exercises would occur on existing base.
Take Action Now – Attend at least one public scoping meeting and encourage your family and friends to do the same, and pass along this information to others you think are interested in Johnson Valley’s future. Visit the Partnership For Johnson Valley at www.pfjv.org for additional information and the latest updates.

Many thanks to Danny Z for joining us to preview RHR check location. Looking forward to serving the D37 racing community!
The ck location doesn't lend itself to RV Camping unless you have a gnarley 4x4 rv :). It appears by my amateur reckoning to be 11-12 miles from sign up via the lower powerline road.
I'll be out there @ sign up Saturday and hope to enlist a handful of RUTSTERS to help. We'll need to leave camp by around 7 to get to the check and set up. Please pray about any ideas we can use to share the love of Christ @ our Ck.!!

As usual it takes an event like an injury or some sort of pain, be it Physical Emotional or Spiritual for me to take a look at myself and ask God is this what you want from me.Brad has always been an inspiration for me even to the point that now I'm asking God, Is this what you want from me.I was considering only doing the national circut next year all seven or eight races or so and not chasing points like I'm doing this year.I love to race but only because God lets me, do I get to do so. I was just wondering what everybody else was thinking.

well guys i had an interesting conversation with God last night. i asked him why he gave me the talent, ability and joy to ride as i do and now wants to take it all away. He told me that he's not taking it away this is just a minor set back. He told me that he gave me a test, as he gave Abraham when he was willing to sacrafice his son, but i was unwilling to let go of my bike. He wants me to take a good break and let my body heal.

when its time to get back on the bike to pick and choose my races, and to support my dad in racing an offroad car in the future since he supported my racing for so many years. racing was begining to take the place of church, and when its time to race again just race a few throughout the year. this was such a relief because its so hard to just stop racing when you've done it for so long. i love it and am so thankful that i will be back every once and a while to do it. god bless

Brad swapped out and broke his shoulder and hip 4 miles into the second loop today. It was his second race back since his life flight injury earlier this year. He was taken to Palm Springs because another guy, already on the helpicopter at time of pick up, was en route to Palm Springs already. Jack Fuller was the first one from RUTS on the scene and he decribed Brads condition as very painful. They were on the ground for 1 hour before the helo arrived.
Brad was the first 250 and 5th overall when he crashed. His skidplate bottomed out in a G-out type section and he flew a different direction then his bike did.
Please keep Brads condition in your prayers. Pray specifically that his injuries are not permanent and that the doctors will be wise in thier decisions over the next 24 hours.
If you have any updates, please post them here.

Since there will be a dual euro happening till early afternoon I plan to take a beginner/novice group on an easy morning ride probably to "slash x". Plan to meet geared up @ 9:45. We would like to head out by 10AM for 1-1&1/2 hr putt. Sons and daughters, young and old are welcome. No one will get left behind. After lunch we'll take anyone interested on a more challenging and brisk paced ride to finish the afternoon. There appears to be an abandoned old airport compound on the other side of Henkley/Silverlakes we might try to see. That will be possibly 40 mi loop. I've not been there so plans will be loose and route subject to possible closure/private property etc. Sorry this is not in newsletter, please tell anyone who you think may be going to read this message. God Bless :)

Does anybody know where you can go play on the dirtbikes in the morning and then jump on your jet skis after lunch?
We are looking for a lake near a riding area or a place on the river that has dirt accesss / river access. There must be someplace.
If you know of one, please let us know.

Thanks,
Scott

Thanks for posting the message from the Holts. They are now on the real "front lines" in Georgia. Dennis mentioned teams who would like to come and get involved in reaching out with the Good News and practical aid. I would be interested in being part of such a team. It would probably involve 10 days and each person would have to raise about $3000.00 (not impossible if God wants you to go) If anyone else is interested let me know.

Its been awhile since we have had an update on our injured riders. David Krenik, Kevin Roach, Brad Pace, Danny Z and Brian Hall. I hope I didn't leave anyone out.

As for Dean, we found out last week that his crash at badgers left him with a fractured shoulder. Thank God, he will not need surgery to fix it, but he will have many more weeks of pain.
