The rain has stopped, you can see the SUN!
The desert is ready, for some Motolympics FUN!
We look forward to seeing you all at SOGGY DRY LAKE this weekend. We should have some campers arriving on Thursday afternoon. If you come early, camp in our normal spot at the BACK left corner of the dry lake. I will have the road marked in from the 247 by Thursday night, late.

I have attached a copy of the Motolympics flyer and the RIDERS INSTRUCTIONS for you to print or pass along to a neighbor, friend of family member that might be attending. We have a great weekend planned with some new events, some old events, a new "HIGH POINT" trophy, two worship leaders at our campfire, a fun movie on Saturday night and the RUTS apperral store open ALL WEEKEND! That's right, you can get sweatshirts, hats, beanies, teeshirts, coffee mugs, jerseys, flags and more all weekend long!

Don't forget to bring something to our Saturday night desert potluck and last but not least if you have ANY extra wood for the campfire, please bring it.

Hey guys. I am selling my truck if anyone is interested. It is a 1995 dodge Ram 2500 intercooled turbo diesel. It only has 115,000 original miles on it, which is extremely low for that year diesel. It has the banks turbo and exhaust package on it. It can tow almost anything. It has brand new bridgestone dueler tires. My grandpa was the original owner, and I have only had it a few months. It gets about 20 mpg. I am selling it because it is just way too much truck for what I need. I have been using it to commute on the 101 everyday and it is just not practical. I am asking $6000. I am up in Burbank if you want to take a look at it, or let me know if you want some pics. Thanks

Ok folks, we are two weeks away and I am lining up the volunteers for the Saturday activities at Motolympics. Please look over the list and let me know what you can do. If everybody does ONE thing, then I don’t have to do 10! Just sign up for something by emailing me a reply in the next few days. I will provide instructions, clip boards, pens, ribbon, stakes, flags, pylons and everything will be set up for the most part. (Kids course, adult challenge course and UTV course will need to be set up by the volunteer)

Friday night and Saturday morning signups: Need 4 people to assist with sign ups, questions and appeal sales.
Saturday Activities
Slow Race / backwards race / kick the can (morning activities) need 3 helpers to assist me. (9am – 10:30am)
Can Slam 10:30-2pm
Barrel Race 10:30-2pm
Slalom course 10:30-2pm
Adult Challenge course 10:30-2pm
UTV course: Dean and Annie Mills 10:30-2pm
Kids race 3pm
Circle track 3:30pm
Balloon Pop: 4pm
Awards: Scott
Saturday night worship and message: David Alabran
Sunday late morning trail ride. Need TWO volunteers to lead two group rides. 1 for beginners and families and one for intermediate riders.
9:30-11am. Beginner and family ride will lead a group to the ruts race pits to spectator, keeping aware of the competing racers on the course
9:30-11am. Intermediate ride will lead an intermediate group on a ride, possible to the Buttes, keeping aware of the competing racers on the course

If you pick a timed event from 1030 – 2pm, I will try to pair you with another volunteer so that everybody will get a chance to participate in the activities. You can also find a friend, family member or another member to tag team with.

I am looking forward to a fun year. Have you invited your friends yet? You know, the ones you have been meaning to invite for the last 5 years and always forget? You have two weeks. Forward that flyer and bring them out for a great introduction to RUTS!

The desert racing community needs alot of prayer right now. prayers for the victims, prayer for the organizers and prayers for the driver. MDR is a grass roots organization and the truck was a 1450 Ford Ranger so I suspect the driver is just a hobby racer like us. Stories are already emerging like a 22 year old man who pushed two kids out of the way and did not make it himself. Like Bruce Brown said "desert racers are good people". Pray this strengthens our community and that any long term effects be positive.

Hello Everyone,
I just got word today that Russ Barton had a really bad crash on a bicycle today (8-9-10). He had to go the hospital and will be having surgery tomorrow.
His mom said that he had finished making a wooden BMX ramp for his 4 boys and he was trying it out for them and took a pretty bad face-plant and will be having some sort of reconstructive surgery.
I don't know much more but please pray for him. He was one of the original Rutsters and is a dear brother in the Lord. We can also pray for Marta (his wife) and the 4 boys.
Also his business Barton Industrial has had tough times for a while and I'm sure this will only make things tougher if he can't be in the field on his normal service calls.

Hey Ruts. I have a few questions. The first is about the district 37 summer MX series. I am wondering if anyone has ever done it and what you think of it. I can't make this weekends race but I want to check out some of the others. 2nd question. I just moved into a new place in Burbank and I actually have garage space to keep my bike! I am wondering what some good riding spots are up here. I heard the I-5 track at Gorman re-opened and it looks like LACR is open on sundays for practice, I was wondering if anyone knew of anything else? last question.... I want some new ruts stickers and a new shirt, what can I do to get some of those? Thanks all and God bless

Julia's 2005 WR250F is for sale. Lowered 3" the right way (spacers, shorter springs, revalving). The bike is perfect, no ones ridden it but Julia who turns 39 again in December. Electric start and can be put back to stock height easily as a kid grows. Good oportunity for a cheap kid/wife bike. Julia broke her leg skiing and is now a Rhino girl. $2000 It's on Craig's list so if you have interest don't doddle. Mike @ 310 325 7120

Thank you to all our RUTS members for bringing friends and family to help at our Meltdown. We would not have been able to put on this first class event without each and every one of you.

A special Thank You and goes out to Scotty for organizing and pulling everything together. He worked so hard to make sure that all the bases were covered. And what and MC. Saturday night went off without a hitch.

Thank You John for once again doing a fantastic job as race ref. I don't think people realize how much work you put into every aspect of the event.

Rocky, put on a great kids race again. The smiles on the faces of the kids is priceless.
Thank You again for that fantastic dinner Friday night.

and WOW Danny. The BBQ was supurb. Thank you for the extra cooking sunday during cleanup.

Sign up crew. You guys and girls rock.

All of the other RUTS members. None of this would happen without you.

But most importantly, PRAISE BE TO GOD!. All of this was for HIS GLORY. It was HIS LIGHT that kept all our fires burning this weekend.

God Bless you all,

Dean and Annie

Thanks to a great team at sign ups we have all the races scored and entered already. All that is left is to double check them and take care of "issues". So there is no need for everyone to travel to Glendora on Wed. If there are questions we will be contacting check captains via phone.
Thanks for a great weekend.

Only 2 more days!

There are a couple of needs.
1) An extra ice chest for the BBQ to borrow on Saturday. Write your name with a permanent marker on the bottom of it
2) a Folding table, once again for the Saturday night BBQ
Don't forget to put your name on that too!
3) More motorcycle giveaway stuff. If you have something new to donate or can stop by a motorcycle shop in your area to buy a clearance item to give away that would be TERRIBLY appreciated! We still need some more stuff to give away. ANYTHING you can donate is appreciated!
4) Bring a willing heart to serve. On Friday night at our meeting, there may be some moving around of duty's. We are short on a few things and heavy on a few things. A servants heart from all will make our event that much better!
Particularly we need help manning a road crossing about 1/4 mile away from camp on grant road, right by the house with the fence. Its a HEAVY traffic area and we need some additional volunteers to assist Rico. We also need a few people to assist Rocky on Saturday afternoon setting up the kids course. If your riding SWEEP, we would ask that when you are NOT sweeping the course, please consider stopping by one of these two areas and offering an hour of assistance in between your sweeps. Finally, I need one or two more VIDEO helpers for Saturday. See me (Scott Burnett) on Friday night at the meeting if you can help.

See you all on Friday night!

So I'm selling my 2001 Chevy S10 if anyone is interested. It is a 4cyl 5spd with 150,000 miles on it. I put a k&n intake and some bilstein shocks on it. It holds 2 bikes no problem and is set up to tow a small trailer. Besides the dent in the tailgate and the heater that doesn't work its a great little truck, I bought my Grandpas diesel so I don't need this one anymore. I have it listed for $2,900 but I would give it to a RUTS member for $2,600. I should have it out at meltdown if anyone wants to check it out. email me if you want me to send you some pics.

As soon as he is breathing well enough on his own, they will take him off the machine. He is expected to be released tomorrow.

Dear RUTS Members, As we are fast approaching Meltdown 23 a few things might be wise to focus on. First PRAY for the event. Ask God to bless both attendee's and volunteers with safety and "Ears to Hear". Ask Him to anoint our words and deeds that His Name would be lifted Up. Also ask Him what part you might play in the event, (if you haven't decided yet) if you see your name on the duty roster next to something you would like to do great, call the course/check/sweep/sign-up captain as appropriate. If you see your name next to something you would rather NOT do, or are not able to do, 0r if you don't see your name at all, call any of the trustees,( Eddie W, Sonny H, or Dean M) Scott B, or the race Referee John W. for general "I'll do anything needed" OR the captain of the position that you WOULD like to volunteer for. This is the premium event we promote every year, we have been blessed with a reputation for an xlnt family friendly weekend, and many people come out that only ride a couple races per year. Also a lot of people have commented that they bring their friends who are new to racing because they know we take good care of everyone. In addition this year we are Best of the West on Sunday. In case you wonder what some needs are here's a few. Starting from the obvious to the not so obvious. Base camp crew. Road and vicinty marking Sign up Crew D37 and AMA signups Evening event crew Kid's Race crew Scoring crew Course Crews, Start/ Checks/ Home/ Sweep/road crossings Radio Crew Insurance/risk/safety management officer Treasurer BLM / Law enforcement/ ambulance/rescue 3 liason. When you're in uncomfortable position and have got no cash to get out from that point, you would have to take the business loans. Just because that should help you unquestionably. I take credit loan every single year and feel myself great because of it.
