The AMA So Cal MX series is a cool series. It's kind of a mish mosh of desert and grand prix guys and very few moto guys. It's probably the least competetive big series so a good place to have fun and maybe win a title. The best place to race MX in SoCal is REM motocross at Glen Helen on Saturdays. Real outdoor MX with non fatal jumps and long motos for a good price. Last time I raced it was an off weekend for the nationals and both the Allesi's, Nico Izzy and Doug Doubach were there plus a gang of 3 digit national guys. Right now if you can sneak out durring the week go to Glen Helen on a Wednesday. This time of year durring the outdoor national mx series it's a who's who of national stars but you have to get there early because they practice and split. I5 is a great outdoor track. It's hard pack blue groove so you get to practice your flat track skills and it's relatively safe. They only prep on Friday and then its left all weekend but there's water hoses and people do water.

www.proride.com has links to all the tracks and you always need to check their schedule before you go so you don't get there and someone has rented the track.
