Ok, Its been a while since this topic was posted, but i figured Id throw in my two cents here. Firstly i want to say i agree with Rob mostly on this issue.
Brian: Ok, I can identify with Brian so well its almost like were the same person at times. I think because of how he has been hurt in the past he has become rather reserved in what he says and who he says it to. As Rob said he spent years alone, with no 'real' friends, besides chris. He didnt have anyone he could just spill his guts too, he didnt have anyone who would hold his hand or pat em on the back and thusly hes learned to do what I do and "Bottle it up inside and wait for it to explode." Or just completely forget it. Because of his parents dissaproval of his life-style he was forced to hide everything from them and I think it scares him to open up to anyone that might reject him as his parents did. Seeing that he is so much like me I am pretty sure hes torn between two things: His Haven which is himself (mine is the computer) and his loneliness. Hes scared to open up to people because of what has happened in the past and he stays by himself because, as rob said, He is the only person who wont hurt him.
Pete: Well, Whats to say about Pete? Rob said he is the 'rock' of the relationship. So to speak id agree to an extent. I think pete already knows what he wants and hes acting upon that with full force. He had a lot happen in his life, but he had people who ALLOWED him to open up to them, thusly he was able to deal with his problems, where Brian couldnt. The Catch is I dont think pete is as strong as he makes out to be with Brian. I think he is strong for Brians sake, because he loves him and would do anything to keep him, but inside we all know it has to be very hard on him to see Brian and hear Brian say what he says. I think Pete could very easily break in half if something extremely bad came along, because he is having to hold not only himself up but Brian too, and that isnt an easy job. Then again he does it from his Love for Brian, and Love is a very powerfull force.
The Couple: Well, Ill agree, they were made for each other. I think some of the best couples are those who grew up together. Jeremy's (Friend in RL) grew up together, and are now married and are so happy. It seems they tend to 'know' the other person just that much more. Plus there is a bond of not only love, but of that deep 'childhood friend' bond. I think At this time Pete is the stronger of the two in the relationship, but Brian is coming along slowly. He needs a shrink like me though, lol, they help sooo much! I think Brian loves Pete unconditionally, he just doesnt KNOW how to show that love, because of his lack of emotions. When you dont KNOW how to do something you cant do it right? He doesnt know HOW to love Pete and he has to learn this. Basically I see them as two ends of a spectrum which have molded into one person. Where one lacks the confidence the other one picks up the slack. THis is how couples 'should' be, but unfortunately they all cant be, according to society. I think they make an awesome couple and can support each other in everyway they need to.
But thats just my 2 cents, I could be Wrong :)
Carpe Diem,
The Rhino
