As host Ellen DeGeneres walked onto the stage at the beginning of Sunday's Oscars, the camera found its way to an applauding Nicholson, who appeared wearing his signature sunglasses and sporting a very non-signature shaved head.

Turns out the extreme haircut was just devotion to craft.

Nicholson and co-star Morgan Freeman are filming director Rob Reiner's film "The Bucket List," a buddy comedy/drama about two terminally ill men who flee a cancer ward to complete a list of things they want to do before they die. It is scheduled for release in November.

Mexico's Congress has condemned what it says is a border violation by US workers building a controversial barrier between the two countries.

Legislators say workers and equipment building a section of the barrier have gone 10 metres (yards) into Mexico.

The alleged border violation comes ahead of a high-level meeting in the Canadian capital Ottawa.

US, Mexican and Canadian foreign ministers are to discuss border security and trade issues.

Mexican legislators said they had photographs and video, taken on Monday, of the workers and heavy-duty construction equipment that showed them about 10 metres inside Mexico near the border city of Agua Prieta and the town of Douglas, Arizona.

The Mexican Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa said she had complained to the US authorities and that the men and equipment had been withdrawn.

Daily Breeze:

Arron Afflalo was bombarded with questions about whether he will return for his senior season after the fourth-ranked Bruins beat Stanford, 75-61, Saturday at Pauley Pavilion, and he coolly pushed aside the issue time and again. The junior guard, who scored 20 points in the Bruins' final home game, said he barely gave consideration to whether this was his last game at Pauley. "You know that the possibility is there," Afflalo said. "But I'm so focused on the now and what I had to do to beat Stanford, I never thought, 'This is my last game, let me go do what I have to do.' It's not what I play for, and all those decisions come with time."

..the boy wants to go see "Reno-911" at the Drive-In tonight. He's been dragging me to some pretty shitty movies lately, but his friends are going to see it so he "might as well". His mother has one of those, "Don't even ask me to go because I always freeze my ass off at the drive-in and complain incessantly" looks on her face - this look automattically dismisses her from consideration. Like someone here said a few weeks ago: Enjoy hanging with them while I can. That's seriously true shit, as my older one sure as hell has better things to do on a Saturday night than go to a shitty movie with his pops.

I'll give my review tomorrow.

LA Daily News:

It’s clear that Jackson and the Lakers aren’t about to give up on Radmanovic, even though they do have the technical right to void his contract. It also will be interesting to see what punishment they decide on for their Shaun White-wannabe. The Lakers could fine or suspend Radmanovic or they could simply dock him pay while he’s out injured. Radmanovic is due to make about $1.2 million for the 25 games he’s expected to miss in the next eight weeks.

LA Times::

Kupchak and Jackson said they would sit down and discuss possible penalties for Radmanovic. They could void his contract, a highly unlikely outcome, according to a league source. They could suspend him, although he is already out six to eight weeks. Or they could simply fine him. It's not a "criminal offense," said Kupchak, who added that Radmanovic's decision to publicly admit he had lied "is itself a punishment."

The father of NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson was killed Friday when the pickup truck in which he was riding blew a tire and flipped on a highway.

Oliver Tomlinson was killed at about 1:30 p.m. in the one-vehicle rollover, said Charlie Morgan, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman. Tomlinson was 71.

The driver, Ronald C. McClain was rushed by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, where he later died, Morgan said. The 48-year-old McClain was believed to be a relative of Tomlinson's, Morgan said.

Witnesses reported that a tire on the 1969 Chevrolet truck blew, causing the truck to swerve out of control and flip over near an intersection east of Waco near Asa. Both men were thrown from the truck, Morgan said.

Jewel Tomlinson, Oliver's wife and LaDainian's stepmother, said her husband and McClain had been returning to Waco after a trip to the family home in Tomlinson Hill, the Waco Tribune-Herald reported in its online edition Friday. She said Oliver, who lived in Chilton, had been staying in Waco recently while recovering from an illness.

vlad lied

The following statement was issued today by Lakers forward Vladimir Radmanovic:

“First of all I’d like to apologize to my teammates, coaches, Lakers management and Lakers fans for initially lying about the circumstances of the injury to my shoulder last weekend. I’d like to, however, come forward and set the record straight at this time. The truth is that I hurt myself in a fall while snowboarding. Being young and sometimes immature, I initially panicked and made up a false story about how I hurt myself. However, over the past few days my conscience has been bothering me terribly. I am not a dishonest person and could no longer live with this deception. Therefore, I came forward today and told the truth to the Lakers. It is just as important to me though, to be honest with Lakers fans and the public in general, therefore I am making this statement and apology. I can’t express enough how deeply sorry I am, not only for the activity that led to my injury, but also for the initial deception of my story. I hope for everyone’s understanding and forgiveness. I vow to work as hard as possible to rehabilitate my shoulder and rejoin my teammates as soon as possible and to help us become a team that Lakers fans can be proud of.”

The feud between them started when the Hollywood mogul David Geffen called the Clintons liars. Now when a Hollywood producer calls you a liar, he knows what he’s talking about.
