Listen I am not here to bash or say I am going to kill you anything, I really want to know what it is that makes you hate football, whatever the reason is. Since you people asked why should football be kept, I want to know why you personally want it abolished. I know you said they spend too much money, but is that money changing your wallets. The chances are you all are upper class rich kids. Your parents paid for your ed. Do you think getting rid of football will lower your tuition? It wont. You can look at the records over history, it does suck, Fordham has been a bad team historically, but what effect does it have on you, none. Even if you guys play one of the other sports that don't receive any attention you can't imagine that because football is gone someone will give a shit about the golf or crew team. The fact is if football is abolished it will hurt the Athletic department more than help it. They would lose around 45% of the money that is donated. Football and Basketball makes up about 90% of donation money so the AD would lose money. Also I would love to know why you don't hate basketball. They suck every year and have only made it to the postseason a couple of times, why don't you want them abolished. You guys also say that the football team is arrogant, mean, disrepectful, and other things. Do you think getting rid of football is going to rid Fordham of people like that.It isn't. The fact is the amount of people that act lke that is small. Look at people like Kevin Eakin, Wallace House, Pete MOdelski, and I could go on and on. They are model students.
So in conclusion to me it looks like you guys don't want the football team there because you feel like they don't belong there. You want FOrdham to be a school of preppy white boys and girls. All of the reasons you say to get rid of football doesn't have any bearing on your life. You want them gone because of who they are not what they have done. Now if I am wrong I welcome you to prove me wrong. Once again I am not here calling you stupid or anything like that I want to hear your side.

To the poster, the rumor about these guys is that they were loud mouths who got knocked around by the players b/c they deserved it. - so i guess if you can play football, you deserve a great education... is that what your saying. alot of players take take spots that could go to students who woud use the education alot more appropriatly. for instance they would show up at class, and callenge themselves with course selections instead of letting the FF administration chose there classes and set their schedules. this isnt true of all players but we all know that a majority of them just coast through. - You are lying FOR A FACT. The only laundry that gets washed for us is our practice clothes and game stuff, every team can get their Fordham gear washed for them. Second of all there is only a couple of instances when we are given money. One is our refund checks for not using all of our grant.(Which is fucking great b/c people get back anywhere from 1k-7k. - Just to finish that up, We get 60 dollars to feed a recruit with for two days. And they the school forbids us from taking the recruits to bars. And schedules are only made for incoming freshman. They recommend what classes to take and when, but what is wrong with that. - Oh yes we defintely get the return money at the end of the semester. To be honest I didn't even buy books, I just checked them out, or borrowed them and kept all of the money for myself. Isn't that great. Every single dime of grant money that we didn't use we got back in a refund check. Some people especially New Yorks got a lot of money. They would get a 30k football grant, 3K pell grant, and 5K TAP money. TAP is a grant just for New Yorkers. And then if you didn't stay on campus you got your housing money too. Now we all know rent on say Crotona Ave, is only about 6K a person for an entire year lease. - It is great to be a football player.That 60 bucks you're talking about is for food,but the school provides meals anyway so we spend that money on booze and stripper parties.We all pool the money together and get 2-3 strippers for the recruits.Thats how they got me,fuck the education.Since you are convinced we are mindless jocks then I guess I will entertain you and be one.But I'm a mindless jock with strippers, booze, and money.And to respond to your other comment,I do not think fB players are the only ones that need money for school.I knew football players who had to take out loans,but we are in need a lot more than the average Fordham Student and if you look at it at least we sacrifice something for the money.It is a lot harder to get up for 6am runs, and lift 4 times a week, and practice, and condition, than it is to just go to school work.But it doesn' t matter,we don't have to work.Oh and by the way when we stay during the summer we get cake walk jobs that pay great. -- Current Ram, 22:48:03 03/15/05 Tue
