January, 2013 I bought Novas. Feb.,2013 I bought 1Irons, Driver thru GW. The Novas then were not custom sized like the 1Irons, but were single lenght.

I am 71 and my golf glove size is small cadet. I had played Regular graphite shafts for 25 years with standard cord grips.

The 1Iron irons are more consistent than the Novas, but the Novas feel better, because of the grips and the graphite shafts, and the Novas are longer by 15 yards. Here in Palm Desert I hit a 1Iron 9 95 yards and a 9 Nova 110. I have lost about 30 yards on the 1Iron fairway woods although I am straighter.

I want to reshaft the woods to graphite. Can you recommend length and weight of graphite shafts in senior flex?

Ray: It is EXTREMELY hard to recommend a shaft for you. Reason is it all depends on your personal swing mechanics. I urge you to seek out a decent club fitter/builder that has the correct tools to properly identify what will work best for you. Such things as your club-head speed, actual and desired launch angle, shaft kick point, WTF measurement, and many more individual characteristics all go into proper shaft fitting and selection. And the price range can be from $10.00 to over $100.00 depending on the shaft. Several of my senior students have slower swing speeds(70-75mph)and actually do much, much better with a women's-flex Aldila shaft. You also need to consider the size of grip - a lot of my students started out with grips that just didn't fit them! Stay away from the "big-box" stores. A good fitter/builder will get you into the shaft and grip you need, and at a very reasonable cost. Hope this helps a little. Hit em' straight! R2
