Paul, I also own the complete set of One Irons and the One Iron Driver. I also would have preferred a 1 & 2 One Iron over the 5 & 7 woods, so I experimented with a Taylor Made 16 degree Hybrid fairway metal with steel stiff shaft at 42" and found it to be a good compromise for accuracy and distance.
ps: I also struggled a little with the driver being 44 inches, but in the end I did a forward press with my hands at address and it worked just fine...I for the first time have a GREAT right to left draw with it...;)
