For a start, I don't think anything has *ever* been agreed on on this discussion board, besides it doesn't matter. People posting here are not representative in any way and the only decision making body is the IVDA GM.

There is also no point in "trialling" IMTM. It's simply the current system with a different method for aggregating the points. If you want to try it, feel free to calculate the results from one of the datasets from previous competitions. E.g. http://users.ox.ac.uk/~quee0524/results/ has all IVDA marks. And http://www.oudancesport.co.uk/Team/historic_results.htm includes a number of historic datasets.

I also noticed that trialling the "new" system at Warwick, Nottingham or Sheffield would be ever easier, as there is no "overall best university" prize as far as i remember. So no special computer program is needed. The only change would be to mark the team event as a 4-dance and see if people are happy.

We would not even need the 2-division structure seing historically both Sheffield and Warwick were all-in anyway. Though i think it would be nicer, and as long as there is a vaguely competent scrutineer they should be able to handle it. All they have to do is call out those teams/numbers who did *not* make the 2nd round and start a new competition for them... easy.

Anyway, no point in trialling IMTM as it has been done many times, trial of the new system would be nice if anyone can be bothered, but in the end it's all up to the IVDA GM, not to us :)...

Robin

ps the discussions about "valid" scoring systems are all very pointless. With the possible exception of throwing dice, all scoring systems are "valid" so long as they're equal for everyone. They merely place a different emphasis...
