  • It was the PC/OC levels and while my dd who is a PC dancer is very experienced and has NEVER in 6 yrs had a false start the music was so confusing she did have one.   • You know that's a good point. OK ADJ if the speaker is pointed towards the audience & not towards the dancers don't you guys hear the same thing the audience does?     • If I have a concern about the volume, I either have it increased or I go to the back of the stage and listen while the musician plays. If I know th speakers are turned away from the dancers and towards audience, I turn thme or have them turned. If I can not hear, something gets changed, but never so that the dancers are slighted.             • I will say that 99.5 of feis musicians are excellent, and that last .5% is likely someone more used to ceili's or seisuns than a feis. Granted, sometimes the intro is weird, or extra beats, most often the acoustics of the venue is the greatest problem for me for listening to just one musician and not the other stages musician.   • Thank you adj. My dd is a teen who has never had any problems with rhythm or false starts. To the contrary she has been noted for being able to pick out a rhythm in the most difficult of circumstances. That's why this was so odd. But the point of the suggestion is to complete one competition before starting another. It would be less traffic and less confusion in the dance hall. • The math...8 dancers x 50 teams=400 dancers + parents, siblings, etc.= est. tot of 800-1,000 people all filing into a room, looking for seats, etc. Meanwhile, the sr ladies are dancing and trying to remain focused on their comp. Then while the est. 800-1,000 ppl are exiting the hall, the sr ladies are trying to reorganize and re-focus for their 2nd round which is est to be about 1.5 hrs later... in irish time that could be 2-2.5 hrs later. I think it would run smoother if they finish one comp before starting another... especially considering the volume of people going into and out of the hall. • Relax folks! It will all work out. There's no way to create a perfect sched for everyone & I'm sure we can all suggest ways to improve it but lets give them the benefit of the doubt. We'll have a better idea of the timing once we see the rotations & start #s. Let your tc handle it if there ends up being a time crunch between solos & teams. Just keep them in the loop in case they aren't aware of any issues. It's unlikely that the schedule will be able to stick to the exact times posted and not everyone will need to be in the ballroom at the same time. Its worked before with no catastrophes.     • TC's were not given the opportunity last year to make sure their dancer got their due time. Our teams were thrown from solo stage to figure stage on the threat of being disqualiied for not being in their rotation spot. With 8 members involved in different rotations of solos it could be impossible to get a team there at their spot in the rotation and easily be DQ'd (NT) -- Can't fairly run figures & solos at same time, 04:01:40 11/20/09 Fri

  • The Dunwoody station is on the back side of the mall, behind Macy's. The hotel is on the front side of Macy's, across the parking lot then across Ashford-Dunwoody Road. Macy's is at the corner of Ashford-Dunwoody and Hammond Drive. You can see the hotel from Macy's across the lot. If you do want to walk, someone should be able to point you in the right direction. • Definately take a cab, it's not a per person charge, some cities may charge a $1 or $2 more per person, no need for a car unless there's somewhere distant you want to go. There is a grocery within walking distance, we usually buy a styrofoam cooler at the grocery for these types of events. There is also a small food court across from the hotel, but it is not open all weekend it caters to the work crowd, unless comittee has contacted them and made arrangements, this is unlikely though.     • As to the weather in Dallas in early December. It's usually in the 30s-40s at nite and the 40s-50s during day. We dodged a bulled in 05 on an ice storm as it happened a wk after the O.
