So what's with all the snow?

We had nearly 30 inches in the D.C. area with 10-20 inches predicted tomorrow!!

And yes this is dance related as most of the Irish Dance schools around here cancelled classes.

Woe!! Woe unto Irish dance!! Woe unto my children with cabin fever!!

  • 2 dresses for sale. -- Patti, 10:12:38 02/06/10 Sat
Sorry but my computer is in for repair and I don't have access to pictures yet. I'll include links for each one, although not great. First is approx. junior size 3-5, hot pink with white accents, Shauna Shiels championship dress, worn at Worlds 2009. The best link I could find for this dress right now is from www.scott-photography. Irish dance awards Friday 2008. Page 8. Pictures 0345,0346, 0347. Asking $1,200. Second dress is a Siopa Rince dress made for Worlds 2009, approximate junior size 1-3. Light blue with pink & yellow accents & skirt. You can also go to the scott photography link, go to Irish dance gallery, go to 2009 Columbus girls under 14. Picture #s 2129, 2131, 2157. Asking $1,800. Both dresses will be available at the new Northcoast Feis in the Cleveland area. For more details with measurements, please e-mail me.

I mistakenly left my daughter's dress cape at the feis...probably in the lobby area just outside the ballrooms after awards. If anyone recalls seeing it, I'd really appreciate knowing. Cape is yellow ribbon fabric with black embroidery on panel portion. Thanks for any help.

  • Question for anyone attending the St. Louis Arts Feis -- omom, 05:40:28 02/01/10 Mon
We are thinking of attending this feis, but before making the very long trip, I would like to know how many are paid for the 512 dances. If anyone in that group is registered for this feis, would you be so kind to tell me how many are paid in the 512? I would really appreciate it.
I guess the competitors numbers don't show until you pay, and I would like to be sure there are over 10 competitors since some are no shows before we pay.
    Thanks so much :)

A big thank-you to everyone who was able to attend the Ozark Moutain Feis in Branson, MO. Despite the weather, two-thirds of registered dancers arrived and it was a wonderful day. As many of the dancers who were forced to cancel due to ice and snow were from the host school in Arkansas, I would like to exend many thanks and heartfelt appreciation to parents and dancers from other schools who stepped up and helped run stages, hand out dancer registration and run scores. We wish you all safe travels back home to hope to see you all back here next year with, hopefully, warmer temps!

I don't know about you all, but we are gearing up for show season at our school and I am excited about it!

Do some of you have shows that your school performs every year that you especially look forward to? Or shows that have been really special to you or your dancer in the past?

Let's start a thread with some of our favorite performing experiences. Shows for us always emphasize the positive aspects of Irish dancing-- let's see if we can get some of that going here.

Post below states 2011 will be in Richmond. Is this confirmed? Seems strange that 2010 is outside DC and 2011 would be only 2 hours south of DC. I thought the region tried to rotate things around. Great for dancers in the northern part of region I guess.
