i hope you all know that you are awful people if your only hobby is to log onto an anonymous message board and verbally abuse a child just to get your bigotry done for the day. i remember getting my name dragged through the mud on here and yet if i was a kid again dealing with all of this insanely disgusting transphobia, i don’t think i could even take it. continue ruin the sport for everyone and choke on your transphobic BS on your way out. can’t believe most of my life went to this community, shame on y’all grown adults…

Coercive control refers to continuous patterns of behaviour that are intended to exert power or control over a survivor. These behaviours deprive survivors of their independence and can make them feel isolated or scared. This can have a serious impact on a survivor’s day-to-day life and wellbeing.

Will they finally be held accountable for their years of corruption? Anyone who's been to one of their Texas feises knows the blatant cheating that goes on there. I can't count the number of times my daughter has been off the podium or didn't even place in one of their open championships yet goes to the Oireachtas and world qualifies. I'm so relieved that some physical evidence of cheating has finally been released so that those of us who have known about this corruption for YEARS are finally listened to.

2024 - D. Smith 1 year retroactive suspension ADCRG. No fine, one year less than prior offenders. Allegedly traded sex for 💯 judge marks in CLRG sanctioned competitions with minors.
    2018 - S. Casey, €1000 fine and ADCRG Suspension for 2 years.
2018 - C. McGinley Faloona, TCRG and ADCRG suspension for a period of 2 years.
CLRG has not only delayed to respond to the cheating scandal for over 18+ months, they’ve lessened their sanctions on their members.
This is a slap in the face to those who have paid their dues well before the public cheating scandal broke publicly in 2022.

Have you ever considered that your daughter just has a massive skill issue? I competed in mixed comps all the time, regularly beat the cis boys who placed top 10 and top 5 at the worlds, and meanwhile I struggled for a world medal in my girls comp. Maybe if you want a participation medal so bad you should try another sport? I mean are we really gonna let the FEELINGS of a bunch of TRIGGERED SNOWFLAKES dictate the future of irish dance? Also if you really care about results, complain about all the judges you already know are massive cheaters instead of a kid. you all sound like a bunch of toddlers with their priorities backwards lmaoo also cry harder #cope.

  • Female roll models to inspire our girls? -- First post u14 WQ mom, 20:04:27 12/30/23 Sat
I've seen many messages here and lots of emotion. I've been trying to put into words what I see my daughter going through since OIR without being mean or singling out any individual and I think the best thing to say is that my daughter has lost her inspiration to dance. She has never made podium in the group but been close and danced at the last two world championships where she loves to study the dancers who win higher placements and admires the skills they have that she realizes she needs to work on. After OIR two years ago, it was realizing her stamina wasn't up to par so she made it a goal to improve that and did by Worlds. After Worlds, she realized she needed more work on strength training and getting enough protein and was stronger the next time she danced. She even did some ballet after the last Worlds realizing that the girls she idolized had stronger feet and she wanted to improve her grace. She saw those girls and was inspired because she knew that those goals were attainable - they were just girls like her that were winning that had focused on skills that put them on top but she was inspired because she saw that she could be them!

After OIR this year, she looks at the top of the podium and says "I don't know what to do to compete now" as she realizes her biology cannot change and has lost all inspiration as she knows her chances of winning now have changed and doesn't see it as attainable anymore. I don't know what to tell her - try harder and work more does nothing as she has already been doing that and seems like all the love to go compete and push herself has been snuffed out by the results of our last OIR. If this continues to be the case, the same winner will be at Feis and future majors so she is thinking, why push so hard any more. It's very discouraging to see as her mother.

Have a boys comp and a girls comp and an open comp for trans people. Anyone can dance open. So all the girls that are ok competing with dudes in dresses can dance with the dude in a dress. They can show their support. And the girls who want a LEGIT female only comp can have it. Spoiler alert. Even though lots of people on here are spewing woke rhetoric I bet they still sign up for the girls only comp.

  • Unique idea for blended comps -- I think this could work, 10:17:11 12/23/23 Sat
How about for each age group, all dancers - boys, girls, and "open" (trans, fluid, non-binary, etc.) compete together. There would be no recalls and all dancers would dance all 3 rounds. There would be 2 categories of results - 3 sets of results for girls-only, boys-only, and open-only, and then a single combined result. Dancers could national and world qualify in either category. For example, a girl that misses out qualifying for worlds in the mixed category might qualify from the girls-only category. And a strong boy who places 6th and misses out in the boys-only category might qualify through the mixed category. And a trans dancer who would likely be alone in the open category would still get to be competitive in the mixed category. This way, no one is knocked out of their rightful qualification and no one is taking a title away from anyone. It would make for a longer day, but everyone gets a chance to perform their set and everyone has a fair opportunity to qualify and make the podium.

For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Matthew 7:2

May those that judge a MINOR dancer that may be different than your dear daughter, how dare you. Rather than acknowledging how incredibly challenging it must be for a dancer to live their authentic self in this day and age, you continue to make ID all about you and your hurt little feelings. SRO was not the sh!t show you thought it was. It was an incredible competition in which your dear daughter did not dance better than everyone else. Without all your mean viscous words and emojis, I would have had no clue what the drama was about. Get over your little selves. You won’t be missed. Honestly, do you really think dancing U14G is easier than the alternative competition? Makes so much sense that dancing in ghillies and learning slip jig makes Irish dance easier for them. 🙄! May no one in each of your families ever choose to live as they feel. They already know how bigoted you already are. So much for following Christ’s path. You are not the reason for the season. Please show yourself out. Your hate is not welcomed here.

  • Thank Christ my daughter is quitting -- Overjoyed, 12:12:55 12/10/23 Sun
SRO was our last straw. Judging will never improve, dresses and wigs will only continue going up in price. TCs will get even more elitist and egotistical. Last weekend was all my daughter needed to see to finally be done with it all. She said she was actually embarrassed to be part of it all. Friends and family look at the pictures and are put off by the hideous fashion and are still tickled that my daughter puts up with it all.

There are no life lessons to be learned from Irish dance that couldn’t be learned from any other activity for 10x less money and with 100x less drama and pain. So sick of hearing our TC talk about all these life lessons and the importance of getting through high school while still dancing. Mmmh daughter told me she cannot wait to have even just her last semester of school without dance to stress her out.

I'm an Open Championship dancer however I'm coming back off a very long break, so would be looking for a school willing to take on a senior dancer wanting to get back into competing.

Has anyone else’s TC sucked every last ounce of enjoyment out of this Oireachtas? November’s classes and workshops have been brutally harsh with kids often coming out in tears. 2 kids in my daughter’s class are out from injuries sustained in class. Dancers are forced into so many repetitions that they’re vomiting in the toilets. TC threatening to pull kids from competition who make the smallest mistake in their dances. And all for what? A good result and possible world qualification that will be forgotten in months? Our daughter has said she is literally throwing her dance shoes away after results on Sunday and never wants to go back to dance again. And I can’t blame her. I hate myself for letting this go on for so long.

And then Saturday is a mess of unnecessary ballroom changes with U22 ladies, U20 men, and Masters having to go to another room for their sets. They also didn't schedule any break in-between senior men's reels and sets.

I guess it’s to make time for the mini feis, but that’s a lot to ask for these little ones to stay engaged and mentally/physically ready all day if they recall. Any chance that will change? Shouldn’t solos go first (all rounds) and then put the mini feis at the end? • Adult Rules -- Adult, 07:52:02 08/24/23 Thu
is this accurate? 1. So long as you are 18 and have not danced in any juvenile teams or solos in the past 5 years you can dance in the Adult Championships 2. If you are over 25 and have ever placed in top 3 of Youth Prelim (so this includes any dancers who made it to Youth Open champs and also includes dancers who have not taken a 5 year break and are still competing in the And Overs) you have the OPTION of dancing in Masters Prelim but if you have taken the 5 year break in Number 1 above, you are not required to dance in Masters Prelim and can choose to compete in Adult Championships. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS AND MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP? 3.If you are 20-24 and have not competed as a Juvenile in teams or solos for 4 years you can dance in Adult Masters championships 4.If you over 25 and are currently competing in youth prelim or open champ you can compete in Adult Masters Championship.
(or if you are over 25 and have not taken a 5 year break)
(What if you are 25? - it looks like there is a gap for 3 and 4 above.?

  • Great job done by Orange State/Cara Dances on Feis in Fort Lauderdale. -- experienced dance mom, 07:42:02 06/28/23 Wed
The Location sold us, right on the beach. We were able to enjoy the pool, sun and beach as well as dance.
Would have liked 3 different judges for champs on day 2, but understand with numbers how they are, we were happy with two out of 3 changing. Awards were adorable (would have loved a seashell medal for champs round instead of candy...)
Love the color themes and raffle baskets. Impressed at the number of baskets provided! Decorations were fun and classy (as opposed to some feis where they are clearly an afterthought)
I hope you were financially successfully and we will be encouraging our friends to come with us next year.
    Thanks for all you did!

We are getting ready for Nashville and I can already sense that our environment will never be the same again. Of course, it never was above board but we fooled ourselves thinking maybe it was just a bad day, unlucky or just not meant to be. Now we as parents realize, it didn’t matter how hard our dd worked. Didn’t matter how many hours she put in the studio and sacrificed to get the top spots. It was never going to happen. Thousand of dollars later and countless hours missed to spend time with family and friends.

We blamed our small unconnected school for not getting us the results. Transferred to the one getting result after result. Didn’t get much attention as ‘winner’ in same age group. In hindsight, we were blessed and protected by that small school. The teacher did not play into the games and pressures but instead valued ethics, morales and child protection over trophies and titles.
