Hidden in the shadows of one of the buildings which remained standing, the cloaked young man watched the battle, cursing his luck. His mission had been one of reconnicnce, the Oracles having sensed a disturbance on this plane. They knew of the war that had raged here some decades ago, local time--and consequently it was closely watched. And after they detected the forces of one of the local witch's armies marching towardfs the side of the Summoning--despite taking horrendous losses in the process--they decided to dispatch a single Palidin to investigate.

Landing nearby, he'd come to the town to the town to find local money and costume, and to gain his bearings. Before long, he'd detected the presence of other extradimensional beings--and sensed the miasma of evil surrounding several of them--and in the case of one, the taint of vampirism.

Thanks to the protective wards tattooed into his skin, he'd resisted the spell cast by one of the others, and remained in the shadows, awaiting the oportunity to strike--when IT appeared. It was no werewolf--he'd have sensed any lycantrophes a mile away--and yet it appeared enraged by the light of the moon. Worse, it had already destroyed much oof the town...although it fell outside the scope of his mission, his Vow to the Order required him to act. Then he would stake the blood-sucker and be on his way...

He'd been watching the boy before he transformed, and saw that, unlike that of the several dozen werewolves he'd dispached while serving the Order, this one's transformation didn't take place until he was exposed to direct moonlight. Hmm...what would happen if the source of moonlight were to be cut off?...

Figuring nothing would be lost by trying, he began to concentrate, muttering the words of a spell, the words inaudible over the sounds of destruction. Soon, the others noticed a powerful wind blowing in from the East, bring with the distant but approaching rumbling of a dense thunderstorm...
