Just saw a teak/cedar call listed on eBay so someone has tried teak. I came by a spalted white ash 2x4 about 4' long today. Heavy spalting. 2 bucks. I thought that was a pretty good price as all the wood seems to be hard and not doughty and it's really pretty. Also found a piece of hackberry I stashed in the firewood pile last year and forgot. Some kind of bug got in it and made a lot of tunnels but there seems to be plenty for the sides for 3 or 4 calls and maybe a couple of lids. Not that lucky with a piece of white ash. I think the bugs have about destroyed it. I seem to be making a lot of trips to the firewood pile lately. Seems like winter started in September this year.
