When I was bfding Zack, we co-slept, but not by my choice. From the time he was born, he was a very high-needs baby who just would NOT sleep anywhere but with me or on me. We co-slept for three months. When he started learning to roll over, I decided he was going to move to a crib. At that point he was still waking up SO many times a night, like 6 at least.

Once we moved him to his crib (more about that in a minute) he woke only once and then at 4 1/2 months, he was sleeping through the night. He did not become a good sleeper until after he was out of our bed. He's a noisy sleeper and would keep me awake and any time I would move, he would wake up. Not fun.

So, at 3 months, I read The Baby Whisperer and used a lot of her techniques with Zack. I was totally ready for the first night to be complete hell, but it wasn't. I had been putting him in his crib when he was awake to get him used to it and I think that really helped. I suggest that if you're going to try to get him in his own bed, you do it now while you're not working so that if you have bad nights you won't have to be at work the next day.

Also, Zack was a horrible napper (he would only sleep on me and then not for very long) until he moved to his crib. Ever since, he's been a champ.

Good luck.
