Author: Donna [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 14:45:24 12/19/02 Thu In reply to: Denise 's message, "After reading birth stories" on 14:20:36 12/19/02 Thu I was booked in for an induction due to high blood pressure on Sunday th 30th of December 2001. On the Saturday my Dad passed away from Cancer at the smae hosptial I was due to have jake at and I was told that the labour may start due to the shock anyway but I only had a few tighenings.... So after planning my dads funeral on the sunday morning Dh and I go off to the hospital to have my baby :) I get to the hospital and at 7:15pm they insert the gel behind my 1cm dilated cervix (I had gone into pre term labour 3 times during NOV?DEC and they had stopped all 3) and they said it may take up to 3 days to work but due to the circumstances the we allowing my husband to stay with me the entire time (he usually would have had to go home for the night) Anyway they hook me up to the montiors etc etc etc and 15 minutes later I register a HUGE contraction which I only midly felt??? The nurse goes hmm this aint right them gels dont work that quick!!! It turns out I had been getting contactions all day but due to my mind being elsewhere I had no idea!! Anyway they are registering HUGE and 4 minutes apart!!! I was coping really well with the pain but the nurses were concerned that I had been up all night the night before with my mum so they said I should try and get some sleep!! YER RIGHT SLEEP THRU THAT!! at 12midnight the pain was so bad I asked the nurse if I could have something and she gave me a shot of pethadine and of to sleep I went for 20 minutes the bastard wore off to quickly!!! The midwife came in when she saw the light go on and she said if you are awake and in that much pain (I couldnt even talk) I think we should move you to delivery... We get there and she says to Adam I will just see how things are then you can go let the grandparents know how she is going ok... She checks my stats and says to Adam I will finish up here but you go RUN to the phone use our ring who you have to and get them here ASAP if they are going to be present she is fully dialated and the baby is COMING!!! So Adam panics and bolts out of the room leaving us ROFL at his face :0) Adam comes back and eveyone is on there way yadda yadda yadda then we hear a loud BEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPP on the machine Jakes heart rate vanishes from the monitor PANICK STATIONS FROM ALL THE NURSES and we hear my midwife yell out the door you get that doctor up here right now this girl lost her father yesturday we are not going to lose this baby OK!! I was so confused I really didnt know what to think but the DR gets his butt right up to us and reassures us Jake is fine (they had inserted montiors onto his head) and that he was going to use vaccum extraction to hlp him out a bit... With that he takes one stab at my waters and the burst (i mean they burst everywhere) and YELLS DONNA CONCENTRATE ON ME (there were like 10 people in the room by now all telling me what to do) so I look right at the guy and he says one final big push!!! I am thinking one final push - no way where is my epidural??? this aint over yet is it??? I gave one huge Push and out popped The most handsomest little man you have ever seen...Looking mighty mad at the world :) He didnt even cry very much just a few grunts and then looked at me as if to say " and who the hell may you be???" My first thought was back to my mums living room to the birth photo of me - HE WAS A SPITTING MAGE OF ME :0) They found the reason why we lost his heartbeat - he had the cord clamped down in his little fist and it was stopping the blood flow which caused him to have hypothermia but other than that he was a healthy 7lb 1 and 3/4 oz and was 51 cm long :) That is my jakes Birth story - He was the rainbow at the end of a Terrible weekend for my family and has been the sunshine that has kept us going ever since :) WE CAN REALLY SAY THIS ONE WAS DELIVERED STRAIGHT FROM HEAVEN BY A ANGEL :) [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ]
