You would think if they recommended not putting it in the center they would recommend WHERE to put it!!! Car manufactuers are goobers!!
We have Avery in the back center of our crew cab truck but my reasoning and logic would tell me to put it on the drivers side because I would think you're more likely to get broadsided making a left hand turn then a right hand turn and if they're on the drivers side they would be farther from the impact point. ???
Maybe you could call a fire dept and ask what they think. They should know since they install them and see all the car accidents first hand.
Let us know what you find out if you do call them.
