"So, what do you have to say for yourself?" Anne started, as Jerry entered the house, followed closely by Paul, Terry and Chantal.

It was no coincidence that they'd all arrived home together. When Jerry and Chantal left the Texaroo Ranch shortly after lunch, they called Paul on his cell phone, and they met at the Prickly Pear, and went to the mall and took in a movie before finally straggling home together to face the Wrath of Mum...er, Mums, as Terry so cleverly called it.

"Well, I went out and got a job!" Jerry answered.

"A job? You're not serious. I thought you wanted to stay at home and just be retired!"

"Yes, but this is different. I'll be paid for taking pictures! Doing something I love even more than academia!" Jerry's enthusiasm was infectious. Anne couldn't help but smile.

"How did that happen? Who are you working for? When do you start?" Anne asked excitedly.

"Met Phil Craven at the Texaroo Ranch. He saw my portfolio, liked what he saw and hired me on the spot. I'll start photographing the kangaroos on Monday, then it's onto the other attractions!"

"That is absolutely wonderful news, and I am ecstatic for you, but I still can't believe you all just left us here to rot, Jerry! Now what if something had happened and we needed something?"

"You know my cell phone number, Anne. You would have called me if it was that important!" Jerry said pointedly. "Actually, we were all hoping the two of you would come to an understanding while we were gone. Do you understand each other any better now?"

Anne and Winnie looked at each other. They did understand that they were going to be neighbours, and that it might prove to be difficult, but they were both too stubborn to go and look for another house, so they decided they'd just have to make the best of it. They didn't have to like it, however.

"Terry, I'm disappointed in you. You didn't have to go with Paul. I'm disappointed in you too, Paul, but it doesn't matter. I suppose it's good that the two of you got to spend some time together, so I don't want to hear any more bickering when Tony gets here." Winnie said.

"Yes, for once I do agree with Winifred. It was a good thing for Chantal to go out with her grandfather, and I'm glad you two got to spend some time together, but you should have let us know. Did you know we were speaking to you after you'd gone? And we didn't know where you were! We thought something might have happened to you! I do hope you'll stay around long enough to see Tony and Lucy tomorrow!" Anne added to Winnie's statement.

Anne really was excited about Tony and Lucy being in town. Although she and Winnie tended to clash, Paul was always good friends with Tony, and Lucy was so charming, Anne couldn't help but like her. Finally there was something Anne and Winnie could agree upon. Being neighbours might not be as hellish as they thought...though it would still probably come close, but for Tony and Lucy's sake, Anne was willing to cooperate if Winnie was.

"Wait a minute!" Paul spoke up. "What's all this about Tony and Lucy?"

"And Christopher, don't forget! Lucy's brother came over with them! My word, but I haven't seen him in ages!" Winnie laughed. It was nice having one up on her prodigal children for once.

"I do hope he's alright. Lucy did say he was a bit under the weather...but this lovely Texas climate will soon put him to rights!" Anne joined in the laughter.

"Unless it kills him!" Winnie added, giggling.

"Mum! Focus!" Terry pressed. "Are you telling us that Tony, Lucy and Chris are here in Studs?"

"That's precisely what I'm telling you, love, and I couldn't be happier!" Winnie gushed.

"Oh joy. Tony's in town. Did I mention I was going back to London?" Terry quipped.

"Terry! Stop speaking ill of your brother! I'm very happy he's here! You should be too. Don't you miss him at all?" Winnie said.

"Well, let's see...last time I saw him, he'd just sacked me from his precious bistro, which I can't believe he's leaving for very long. And he did yell at me last time we talked on the phone, so of course I miss him just terribly!" Terry shook his head. At least, if he recalled correctly, Chris would probably be on Terry's side on principle if nothing else.

"Oh my God!" Chantal squealed. "Tony and Lucy are here?! In town?!! In Studs?!!! When are they coming over?!!!! Ask them to stay with us, Daddy!"

"Hold on, cherie!" Paul asked, the news still sinking in, and blinking away disbelief that Chantal would even say something like that. Was that my sense of humor she's walked off with? He smiled as he continued.

"Let's see...I suppose Tony and Lucy can have your room, oh, and they brought Chris too. Do you even remember him, Chantal?"

"Yeah!!! He was always around when Tony and Lucy babysat me. I remember he always read me those storybooks with all those cool pictures!"

"He wrote those, you know. Illustrated them too. I think we still have a couple of them around here somewhere. Lucy's brother is a very talented artist and writer." Paul recalled, mildly surprised that Chantal obviously did as well. "I've heard his latest book has done very well, by the way. There may even be a movie if everything works out."

"Ooh....ask him to stay too, we've got plenty of room! Gavroche and Eponine can sleep with Terry, right?!"

Chantal laughed, winking at Terry, who was shaking his head.

"Ha! Got you going for a bit, didn't I!" Chantal beamed. "I know we've got just enough room for all of us! But I still wanna see them! When can we?!"

"They're staying at the new Paradise Hotel." Winnie replied. "Lucy will call us in the morning and we'll make plans from there! I, for one can hardly wait!"
