Interesting questions. I hope the show does catch on. I would hate for it to be cancelled because their aren't enough viewers.
Forgive my pessimism, but I don't think conservatives will be lured by a mention of Creationism and pro-life. And that's all it seemed to me to be. The presence of both subjects were intended--in my opinion--to present another side to the questions. My experience of conservatives is that they are GENERALLY (and I stress generally) not as open to other opinions as many liberals may be.
I think Ronnie was trying to do just what she said: get the kids to wonder about things. If she can do that then teaching them will be much easier.
Also, I personally didn't view that as a pro-life message, subtle or otherwise. I think Steven and Lauren were both just feeling guilty that they had inadvertently forced this girl to get an abortion. And Lauren pushing the girl to seek counseling was just good advice.
