Subject: First Post - Prednisone Withdrawal

Hi,
I am writing to share my experience and to see if it is 'normal' and try to understand how much longer I need to deal with the unpleasant effects of prednisone withdrawal.
Diagnosed with sarcoidosis during a hospital stay in early April 2007 for partial paralysis of the face (no stroke, no palsy, so Drs think sarcoid caused granuloma around crainial nerve). Prescribed Predsnisone 60mg/day and after 1 week, paralysis subsided. Got all the side effects: swelling, a lot of weight gain, psychological side effects worsened existing impulse disorder (some days I just screamed at everyone), felt 'speedy', obsessive, panic, etc. After 1 month began to taper down..about 10mg per 2 weeks. Down to about 10 mg at start of June. As of 4 days ago I finally tapered to 0 mg (accelerated against Dr.s advice) I just want to get this stuff out of my system and get this all behind me. Anyway, the past few days have been tough. Here are the main side effects of the withdrawal: extreme fatigue, some achiness, skin it tender, some aggressiveness. Effects seem to come in "waves". Has anybody experienced similar symptoms? Any advice to make the experience less 'harrowing'? How much longer do I have to deal with this until I sense some relief? I am just so frustrated and I am desperate to just feel normal and myself again (and look mysef again!!) I appreciate anybody's advice. I guess also just knowing I am not alone in suffering from this would help me feel a little better. Thanks so much,
Alexis
