Ivy:

Thank you! I was at Mayo Clinic in Nov/Dec for a second opinion and to see if there was any other disease process going on. I went through a huge GI work up. I have Crohn's disease (in remission), so my Pulm. wanted to make sure that things weren't getting stirred up. They did not find anything that showed any flare up or active disease. I did not do a stomach emptying test. I told them all that I had no appetite and almost constant nausea. No one knew what to do for me. It was almost comical. Here I was at the premier medical center in the country and no one had any answers or new suggestions. We spent 2 1/2 weeks away from our 3 year old son and tons of money to find out that there was nothing more to be done. It was frustrating. That was when my husband and I decided that the steriods had to be weaned. My Pulm. here in Columbus, Ohio agreed reluctantly, but has helped so far. I really don't feel that the steriods are helping my lungs at all. They just seem to be ruining the rest of my body. I am seeing an alternative medicine doctor that is helping me nutritionally. Do you think that the steriods could be the root of all the GI distress? I have been this way since starting on the high doses last May. I have tried to take them every way I know and I still get all the side effects except the weight gain and appetite. I guess I shouldn't complain. I just want off of them badly. I am at 8 mg medrol right now and I am feeling the fatigue and muscle aches. How long does it take to get to a place where that goes away? Thanks for your help! Karen
