The brackets don't stain but if your ligs are stained it seems to make the bracket yellowish or dirty. I've had good luck with light blue and light pink ligs. They just seem to fade but they still look clean. I drink dark pops but also drink a lot of water though out the day. I also smoke on occasion. I would like to try the pearl ones and I've heard though this site that the smoke colored ones don't stain. My ortho's office also lets patients come in whenever they want to have their ligs changed. Ask your ortho or the assistant. Some patients have them changed once a week. If I lived closer I definately would. But it is nice especially if you have a special event or are just picky about your ligs. Good Luck with everything. :D
