Hi Meg:

All I can say is SHAME ON HIM!!

Here you are, doing something to improve yourself, and the least he can do is support you in your choices.

Maybe he is insecure and jealous, and thinking that you will be more attractive to the opposite sex with your dazzling new smile.

Most of us have friends and family that support us when we make choices in life. For those of us who don't, there are the wonderful people on this board that will give you all the sympathy and encouragement you need.

I am 59 years old, and have had my braces for 2 months now. When I first got them, I felt extremely ugly and self concious. But when I saw my teeth starting to straighten out, I realized that I was happier with my straighter teeth in braces (and I still have a long way to go yet), then I was with my crooked teeth without braces.

I think that you will have that experience as well. Just give it some time and keep smiling BROADLY, especially when your hubby is around. It will make him wonder what you've been up to. (I know, I'm bad :>)
