Subject: Major Sleep Problems (Anybody ever had this?)

I got my braces yesterday and was expecting some pain and got it. No big deal. But what really bothered me was the way the orthodontist set my braces up, I can't really bite down because my front teeth hit the bottom brackets (the back molars don't touch). This is also not a big deal since he said it was to correct my overbite.

Last night when I tried to sleep, every time I would come close to it, my front teeth would go down on my bottom brackets and boom, I'd be awake. I tried every different possible way of sleeping, but it seems like my jaw has that grinding effect (I don't think I normally grind though). This is becoming unbearable and I haven't gotten a wink of sleep. I went to the ortho and he said he could give me a night guard but it would stop my teeth from moving and told me if I gave it 10 days, my bite would probably be back. This is nice and dandy, but how am I supposed to not sleep for 10 days?!

Anybody have any suggestions or had this happen to them? This braces thing just got a lot more complicated than I envisioned. :((
