Subject: I perfectly understand someone no liking O'Reilly, but...

Letterman came across as a disrespectful child who acted embarressed to be talking to the person he himself invited on the show.

Believe me. I don't like to talk down on Dave. I've been a fan of his for 20 years. He's the king of late night and one of the funniest people on the planet... but I barely recognized him last night. There was no attempt at wit or humor. The audience wasn't even laughing. It was just an opportunity to berate someone on national television.

The whole point of the interview seemed to be for Dave to criticize O'Reilly for how he conducts his show, even making the statement that 60% of what O'Reilly says is "crap". There's nothing wrong with that statement in itself, but here's the kicker - O'Reilly asked Dave to give him an example. Dave answered, "I can't because I've never seen your show".

So there you have it. Letterman's outrage was based soley on second-hand information. I can't for the life of me figure out why he would even stray from his typical humor if you he didn't prepare himself for a debate? Why claim your visitor is routinely producing baloney, if you can't come up with one single example?

Obviously, anyone who hates O'Reilly is going to take some enjoyment in seeing him berated. That's fine. But the guy doing the berating should at least have some clue as to what he's talking about.
