Subject: They both suck...

I don't use the word "Hate" very much, but I HATE both of these guys, or at least their personas on TV. I obviously don't know either one personally, and I imagine at least Letterman is a decent guy, but they both routinely piss me off.

Letterman is bar far the lesser of two evils, since his major flaw in my eyes is that he is nowehere close to being funny, just a ridiculous goofball with Attention Deficit Disorder.

O'Reilly on the other hand is obscene in his distortion of current events, and I would compare him to tabloid journalists, but that would be an insult to the tabloids.

I take immense pride in watching Jon Stewart, who on a regular basis will play a clip of O'Reilly just to show people what an ass this guy is.

I wouldn't be caught dead watching Letterman, especially with Bill O'Reilly as his guest, but if what you are saying is true, it sounds like Letterman embarassed himself.

Not to overly praise Jon Stewart (although I think he deserves it), but I much prefer the way he took on the guys from Crossfire, and taking them on on their show. By some stroke of luck, I was off work the day he went on, and I watched it live, we stayed calm, spoke intelligently, and raised legitimate points about how they were manipulating the news instead of reporting it. They were caught so off-guard, all they could say in return is "You're much funnier on your show", which basically equated to "Duhh....". Surprisingly, what he did may have actually had an effect, since Crossfire was cancelled a few months later.

I hate stations and reporters that try to Spin issues instead of reporting them. It's one thing when the person they are interviewing does it, that is expected, but the media is supposed to sift through the garbage and report the REAL NEWS! There are very few that do that well.

I like Brian Williams on NBC, Anderson Cooper on CNN, and I think Jon Stewart does about as good a job as anyone.

I will give credit to all of the networks for stepping up during Hurricane Katrina, they all asked the tough questions there, which really surprised me.

Overall, to come back from my tangent, both of them are brutal in my mind, but it sounds like Letterman didn't approach it the right way.

No offense to anyone who enjoys either of these two, this is just the opinion of one Canadian.
