Oh right, so longevity automatically makes you shit! What the hell has age got to do with how good someone is musically? As for the formulaic accusation, most bands have a basic sound, a basic 'formula'. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Bad Religion had no need to fix anything - they created their own sound and stuck to it. So i take it you think they are turgid because they use convoluted language you don't understand to convey their ideas about evolution, philosophy, politics, war, belief systems and environmental etc. Bad Religion are at least educational! You could actually learn a thing or two by listening to them. So you don't like their music - fair enough, but this thread was about "the greatest punk rock songwriters" and i believe they write great songs. Who do you think writes great punk rock songs? or will should just continue in your usual vain and respond in your usual manner by saying, "I don't give a fuck." For someone who uses decent words like 'turgid' and 'ergo' you sure tend to use the phrases "Fuck off" a lot, which is a lazy way to try and conclude arguments.

As for liking Pennywise, well, what you've got to consider was that i first got into punk in 93/94 and so hence this is why i got into bands such as BR, Pennywise, NOFX, Rancid etc. In '95' Pennywise released 'About Time' which is a damn good album. After Jason's death they understandably lost it a bit but i think their last album 'Land Of The Free?' is excellent and indeed prophetic! with regards to the events of Sept 11th. Sure they have a formula - but again most good bands do! I like their formula. Having a formula is not necessarily as bad a thing as you like to make out, but i can also appreciate bands which change their style and experiment.

Yes, i've heard 4FT Fingers play at The Welly club last November when everybody else was at Karla and Murph's Halloween gig. Ok so they are not exactly hardcore but more street punk - but what's hardcore anyway? Sorry if saying you sound like them offends you! It's just thR you and their lead singer look quite similar i think. I'm sure they loved touring with you too!! And yes i did know you said that you were unorganized, but i was just trying to illustrate the point that people pay good money to listen to your band and to listen to music and why should they have to stand around waiting all the time for the sake of a little bit of effort in compiling a set list. Also you're in the entertainment business so at least try to look like you're having fun when you play. You know i don't think i've ever seen you smile, just what is it that makes you so angry?

Also - i type all day in my job, so writing a defense of my favourite band won't effect me in the least.

Anyway this is getting boring - do you wanna ceasefire? It's been fun.
