Subject: Making a list (r)

of my favorite characters from various TV shows and books I’ve realized that I have no pattern, that I could see at least.

Everyone from the hero to the bad guy has made it onto the list. But I can’t figure out exactly why.

Maybe you can find a pattern? *g*

These are all older shows btw, because my regular TV viewing these days is down to Desperate Housewives, Monk and three Law and Order incarnations.

On LFN my favorite character is Michael with Madeline a very close second (yeah, I know – no surprise there *g*).

Then there’s Wesley and Cordelia (before they ruined her) on Angel, Faith on Buffy, Amanda on Highlander, John and Rigel on Farscape, Miss Parker and Lyle on Pretender, Lacroix on Forever Knight, Kimberly Shaw and Michael Mancini on Melrose Place, Jeff Colby on Dynasty, Starbuck and Athena on the OLD Battlestar Galactica, Charles Winchester III on M*A*S*H*, Rebecca Howe and Lilith Stern on Cheers, Niles on Fraser (when it was still good), Hawk in the Spenser series of books by Robert B. Parker, Kinsey Milhone in Sue Grafton’s alphabet series, Steve Carella in Ed McBain’s 87th Precinct series and Lennie Briscoe (portrayed wonderfully by the late Jerry Orbach) and Abby Carmichael on the original Law and Order.

Do I identify with them in the sense of “yeah, that’s me” or “that’s what I would do?” Rarely. But something in them caught my attention at some point.

Like I said, they’re all over the place in regards to type, everyone from cops to robbers and in between.

Okay, so after all that rambling, I want to say that for the TV shows at least, the actor or actress portraying the character has something to do with it. Not their looks per se, but what they did with the role.
