I add my own ‘Bravo’ to Marc’s entry. Since my mind first began to emerge from the confused morass of childhood, I have been extremely grateful that it’s there for me at all. No hyberbole to say it’s been a life-saver. There are certainly many jobs it is not suited to perform; but the one it is suited for is utterly necessary. My mind has struggled to be a good and reliable friend to my emotional and feeling body - even though limited and burdened with conceptual crap, blindspots, leftover superego perspectives - just as body and emotions are so burdened with their own damage. Since I have often been told by those a bit less fluent in their feelings that I’m ‘too emotional’ (too female) while appearing to others with less verbal acumen or discrimination as ‘too mental (too male), I’m left to conclude that their efforts to reassure themselves that they represent the desirable norm must render me aberrant. Sad-making, maddening. One doesn’t want to continue making others feel safe at one’s own expense. There is not one part of our human system that some spiritual perspective has not attacked, dismissed, labelled causal of our ignorant predicament or denied as unreal. That being the case, I imagine we’ll all be feeling pretty sensitive to any even remotely pejorative statements about body, mind, emotions, feelings.
