They may want a lot of the same out comes, but at the very fundamentals there are very large differances. Though since this is the US which is very pragmatic they'll find ways to make it work.

I think that is a good point that the more you figure out the way things work the more you become conservative. I'd say that would make a lot of since becuase you would need to see the value of the existing institions. The liberal wants to evolve them, which can be inprove them, but can also take away what made them work in the first place.

In the end, the liberal who gets its his or her way, may have to eventually turn conservative because there will be others that want to keep going with the change. That makes it kind of unstable, since you don't know how far it'll end up once it gets moving.
