But he hadn’t accounted for how much sank through that barrier to bar itself into her chest. As she held herself against the cold, he moved back again closer. He left his arms, bare from his jacket now, encircle her. He pulled her to him. Blood bonds were the trickiest part of all of this. “I’m sorry. I hadn’t forgotten…I just didn’t realize.” He pulled her to the couch. They sat sharing the same pillow. “How are you feeling?” he wanted to know how much of his emotions were leaking through the barrier. He held his façade in place but didn’t reinforce it.
