True.

True, that is one of the biggest problems I have with the Army. You simply need a pulse, and a 9th grade education to get in. There are a lot of great soldiers in the Army, but the lower standards has made it a haven for idiots also. That is one of the reasons I got out, that and the fact I was in a horrible unit that decided the most important thing we could do was pick up the trash so the general was happy (never mind we were a combat arms unit that deployed all the time).

It was probably more a reflection of the unit and training priorities. When I was in Korea, I would have gladly gone to combat with my unit. Once I got stateside, I told them I'd head to Mexico, since it was only 1 mile away from Bliss. Still, I did participate in one combat deployment but it was pretty sad. The other crews got locked on site for failing to meet the standards. My crew past with flying colors, but most of that was because of my time in Korea with a 'good' unit. Oh, and when I joined it was still, "Be all you can be."

Yeah, but remember, some of us officers served as non-coms and we're moving up to try to make things better.

Looks like I'm the only flyboy here.
