Lori, I've no idea what fruit and vegetables cost in MN/USA ;-) but anyway, it's certainly MUCH healthier to make your own juice! I've read and seen reports on how juice is produced and even though many companies claim to be very careful there are always moulded fruits among and that means you drink fungis and/or stuff that kills the fungi/mildew in the juice. Also with orange juice they often throw in the whole fruit, with a chemical or biological stuff used that ferments the peelings. so you drink the whole fruit made to mush.... that's why some brands - at least here in Germany - are often slightly bitter in taste. I like the juice where they claim to use only peeled oranges, which often says "freshly pressed".
And if you take the whole-nature/homepathic side of it you always drink the "information" of mildew and fungis, which is in the long term not very healthy for the digesting system and helps the fungis in your bowls grow strong and healthy, which can lead again to health problems. I know that many people here have this funi in their bowls and if they want to get rid of it, they have to drink just water for a while and don't eat even yeast-made bread. Of course a full healthy body can digest almost everything, and the vitamins and stuff in juice are good enough to still drink industrial produced juices. I am not very hysterical when it comes to those things, so me and my family drink always bought juice. But if you think it's worth it, from the healthy aspect, then I'd recommend to give it a try. If you make it on your own, at least you'll know what you drink ;-)

[> I had a juicer once, gave it away like new as it was a pain to use and messy. A blender on the other hand is REALLY good, great for making healthy drinks and necessary for daqueries. Stick with a name brand you know, cheap appliances are just that, cheap. Save your pennies until you can get a name brand, I don't mean the best, just a good name. If you get one, let us know the juicy details! ;) -- John Scott, 14:09:53 08/19/03 Tue
