Subject: something to ponder, from a Garth Brooks song:

~~Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers~~

You know, I only have one Garth Brooks CD, the old one with 'The Dance' on it, (I LOVE that song, and I always think of Melissa when I listen to it) and yet, every once in a while I find someone quoting amazing sayings from his lyrics...I love this...whether you put "God" or "the Universe" or whatever suits, it's the fact that sometimes we really don't know how some situation will help us, serve us, teach us, deliver us...in the long run...

[> [> [> I don't know about nurses specifically but I have always wondered why woman especially are mean to each other when there is also mention of a big sisterhood. My experience with mean spirited woman is their lack of self esteem. And that is their problem not mine. If there is one thing that I can teach my daughter as she goes thru these middle school years into high school than I think that would be it. Any time somebody has been mean to her, if she can realize it has to do with them not her. Hard sometimes in the moment but hopefully can help her deal with the mean girls and cliques in general. -- JeanClaire, 10:15:43 11/20/06 Mon

[> [> Long winded inside>>>>> -- JeanClaire, 10:30:26 11/20/06 Mon

I've been thinking of making a list of the songs that really touch me in life. On another message board of mine we found out back in early October that a dear friend Tacha, died while riding her horse. My hubby, morbid as it sounds wanted me to write a computer ICE list(In Case of Emergency). He knows who to telephone but he wants to know who he should email. I've thought of adding a cd or something of the stuff I love. He doesn't always listen to music and we rarely share the same taste esp. in music. He always groans when I have country music on the radio at home. This post will prompt me to start writing this stuff down!!

A cute story about my son about my dear friend Tacha....At mass on the last Sunday in October I really thought I was going to smack my son upside the heid--lovely thoughts to be having whilst in prayer. He was more fidgety than usual and getting in his sister's space.

But during announcements when Fr. Tom mentioned the Book of the Dead was up in front to write the names that anyone in the congregation wanted to remember this year. My son starts pulling on my sleeve. What now, I thought . Then he said we needed to go up. I asked if there was somebody he wanted to write down, he said no but that I did. I honestly was drawing a blank at that moment and then he said you know your ya-ya friend and her horse. You know I started bawling right then and there and couldn't even sing the last hymn. And my son who usually races to the church hall for a donut after mass went and waited in the book line with me. There must be an angel in him some where Every body says what a great mom I am when I tell that story but honestly it's my son. He is the compassionate soul. Cuz there's also my oldest daughter and she doesn't make half the connections that my son does.

So far the two songs that I can remember wanting to write on my list are
When I Get Where I'm Going"...Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton
"I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me
I could add our wedding song
"Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
dating songs
"Always and Forever"
"It Takes Two"

An "I Can Only Imagine" story. Last year from the same message board a dear angel named Trace died of breast cancer. I had never heard this song but I heard it was her favorite and also sung during her funeral. So the week after she died I heard it on the radio every time I got in the car. Very weird. So now every time there is a prayer in my heart I will hear this song on the radio. Almost as if Trace is saying I hear ya. Hubby on the other hand says I just happen to be in the car during the radio station's appointed play list time. Which may be partially true. I thought of buying the song but I thought that would ruin the song for me and waiting to hear on the car radio when I need to hear it.

[> [> [> Isn't it odd, and wonderful, that we often hear just what we need, when we need it? And I think you're hubby is right...you need to make a list of people who he wouldn't think of calling ICE... Like Lallybroch and here. I've left a list with my kids. David would probably not do it because he'd just intend to and never get around to it. -- Betsy, 21:42:08 11/22/06 Wed

[> I was remembering today when Hal was about 10 or 11...he called the local radio station and had them dedicate a song to me....Fat Bottom Girls, by Queen. I was mortified...and explained to him that it was sort of mean of him to dedicate that particular song to me...and he said "But Mama...listen to the words....Fat Bottom Girl, you make my rockin' world go round. And Mama, you DO make my rockin' world go round. I immediatly started to cry and apologized to him for speaking before I knew the whole story. And it is now one of my all time favorite songs. Everytime it is on the radio, my daughters and I sing it as loudly as we can, and if we're not in the car, we dance. Tirzah had it played at her wedding reception just so her sisters and I could dance to it!!! -- Betsy, 21:58:11 11/22/06 Wed

[> Todays song: "You're Still You" by Josh Groban >>>>> -- JeanClaire, 11:51:24 11/25/06 Sat

I look up to
Everything you are
In my eyes you do no wrong
I've loved you for so long
And after all is said and done
You're still you
After all
You're still you
