Subject: It's not Halloween yet, but I do have a spooky story!

My DD's teacher told the kids a spooky story (grade 12), and he claims it to be the absolute truth! He's a wonderful teacher, down to earth, and not into teasing, so I don't really know what to make of this. Inside first reply.

When he was a teen and had just gotten his drivers licence, he drove to a parking lot with two of his friends in a pickup truck, where they thought will be kind of a party with other guys.

On the way there in the dark, the guy beside him suddenly grabbed the steering wheel, as if to avoid him to drive over something. The teacher was shocked, steered straight again and asked the guy why the heck he did that, because there was nothing to see on the road.

The guy, and also the other one, both claimed there had a woman in a white dress been standing in the middle of the road. What??? He didn't see anything.

He told them to stop being silly, but the guys looked really scared, which disturbed him a little. They kept driving, until the guys screamed: "Stop! Don't you see her?"

The teacher stepped on the brakes, but as far as he was concerned, for nothing. His friends must have gone nuts or something. There was nothing to be seen. Again.

The friends kept saying there was a dark haired woman in a white dress, holding a small box in her hands, in the middle of the street, and this time the car had went right through her!

The teacher shook his head in disbelieve and kept driving, slower now, and they were close to their goal.
The parking lot was deserted. Damn, where was the party supposed to be?
His friends were still in kinda shock and didn't say much. He was just about to tell them to stop that strange behaviour, and that there had been NOTHING, as all of a sudden they yelled:

"Look out! There she is!"

He looked straight through the windshield and there she was. A dark haired woman stood right before the hood, holding up a box, like offering it to them. One of the guys hit the door shutters and the sound of the car shutting close was louder than normal in the teachers ears. He couldn't see the face of the woman, because her dark hair shaded it. How could she stand there, if he really had driven right through her?

He backed up with the car, over the empty parking lot, until she was out of sight. The guys were scared as hell. Who and what was she? "She must be gone," one of them said. The teacher looked around and spotted her in the left mirror. She was now standing right beside the car, offering the box. He watched her move to the front of the car again, and it was as if she was walking without feet, floating, and she said something.

"Take it. Keep it!" she said.

He would never forget that ghostly voice. It sounded very demanding.
Again he backed up the car, whirling over the parking lot, only to find out as he looked backwards, that she now was standing in the back of the pickup! He drove frantic rounds on the lot to shake her off. He didn't think, his panic reacted for him.

Suddenly she was gone. With hearts beating wild they drove off the parking lot to go home. The lights of the car caught something, and he stopped. There was the small box he was ordered to keep, sitting on the pavement. He took it with him.

In the box was only one thing. An old photo, shot from above, showing a woman looking up into the camera. He didn't know her, but she was dark haired.

To this day the teacher doesn't know who she was and what all this was about. He showed the picture to the now spooked out class. My DD couldn't sleep that night. She saw horror movies, but this story creeped her out more than anything else. I can understand that! It kinda went under my skin too. I'm still not sure if he made it up, and I certainly will ask him at the next parent day.*g*

[> [> Cool story, Martina. I am wondering if there was a purose to him telling it. Maybe trying to evoke emotions before assigning some kind of writing project. -- Brenda, 15:35:16 10/13/04 Wed

[> [> [> I thought so too, but he told it without any connection to the normal class schedule. Once a week he just sits with the class, having tea with them, chatting (people of the north, eh? They like comfy times*g*). He told it during a chat like that. Sinja said she doesn't believe there will be a homework or so attached. Hm... I will just have to ask him!*lol* -- Martina, 15:41:33 10/13/04 Wed
