Subject: Hi all!

I would like to ask if you all would like to make this board a little more social, without taking away the spirituality of course! I just thought it would be fun to also post some “worldly” things, like what´s up in our lives, and not only the bad stuff, you know. It should be a good mix. I must say I miss the fun here a bit we once had. It has gotten pretty serious and earnest here. (There are 11 different English words for serious – “ernst” in German - in my dictionary, I hope I have chosen the right ones to explain what I mean!*lol*)

What do you think? Ready for some silly fun talk?*g* Has anybody something to rant about? Did something funny happen to you lately?

Wishing everybody a wonderful pre-Christmas time!

[> Speaking of Christmas - we have been so busy with house stuff that I couldn´t think of buying gifts yet. Each year I am getting stressed by buying at the last minute, which I hate! But it looks like it will be the same this year.*lol* What about you guys? When do you do your Christmas shopping? I don´t even know what to buy!! WAAAHHH! Panic! -- Martina, 04:05:48 11/19/03 Wed

[> Is this today's bulletin board Martina:)?? I've often wanted to post a 'life' update here from me but then just never did. No rants really, not much funny. Mingo is sick, getting over his second strep infection in a month. Took him to the dr's last week for pink eye and found strep too. So now the poor thing has the stomach flu too. Took him back to the dr yesterday just to check and this flu looks to be a week long with fever, so he's been out of school since last Wed. and he'll miss the rest of this week too I think. We are getting a second opinion on his tonsils next week. The poor little guy has enlarged tonsils and rough snoring, some sleep apnea so looks like we may have to take out those tonsils. -- JeanClaire, 07:24:28 11/19/03 Wed

[> [> More!! DD has not been doing well in school this year. In third grade and I've already had conferences with the teacher twice already. She seems to have hit a brick wall is how the teacher phrased it and doesn't really know how to reach her. And if she doesn't know then I don't know and it's very frustrating. We've had our share of friend problems as well. You know 8 year olds are starting to be cruel and I know this is only the beginning. Which I never understood why. Christmas, not yet. We've got Thanksgiving first here in the States... so next week I'll be asking for prayers for me. At my house, not that I mind cooking the feast, I love it actually. But Mom and my sis-in-law don't exactly get along if you remember from last year's Thanksgiving at my house and over this year things have gotten, well let's just say "weirder" for lack of any other word. (Besides I don't want to fill the page with my their recent history!) -- JeanClaire-who had hoped to be finished with Christmas shopping now but this year just can't seem to think about the holiday yet., 07:33:42 11/19/03 Wed

[> I think this is a GREAT idea, Martina! A little frivolity mixed in with all the serious, cerebral stuff would be great. DH is home sick today (so I won't be seeing JC or Betsy on MSN this morning *pout*). DD had a dance competition last weekend and medaled in all her events (must be the new kilt *g*) and DS, who is 13, is doing the adoloscent mood thing. My dragonboat season is over but the team meets once a week for strength training over the winter. I have not even started to think about Christmas yet because I have to get through writing first term report cards first. I am going in to Vancouver with a couple girlfriends the weekend after next for "an overnighter" to shop and go out for dinner, etc. It should be a good time. DH gladly justifies paying for a hotel if it means he doesn't need to venture near a mall *g*. -- Brenda, 10:34:25 11/19/03 Wed

[> [> Cool! That weekend sounds nice to me. How many will you be? Have FUN!!! I laughed about your DH not wanting to get near a mall.*ROFL* Hey, how does the strength training look like? You all sitting on chairs and pretend rowing?*VBG* Oh, and congrats to DD! -- Martina, 03:12:15 11/20/03 Thu

[> [> [> 3 girls will be escaping captivity for the weekend, Martina. Strength training is a combination of yoga ("Now you take your right leg and wrap it around your ear."), pilates ("make those abs BURN") and upper body strengthening (read: pushups). I come home after and kind of pour myself into bed! -- Brenda, 19:53:06 11/20/03 Thu

[> Ok, jumping in here....haven't been here in a while. >>>>went long go inside>>> -- Colly, 11:50:39 11/20/03 Thu

Lurk often just don't usually have time to post or the energy to put into "deep" thoughts, eh! Am elbow deep in soap orders and just finished 2 decent craft shows. The only gripe about my volume of orders is that every single one of them has ONE item on it that I dont have in stock and has to be made. I ran out of grapefruit orange lip balm last saturday and wouldn't you know it? I got an order for one today, so I have to make up another small batch. Ryan lost his two front teeth finally, and a bottom one too so he looks like a jack 'o' lantern when he smiles. He is doing better in school this year but still as scatterbrained as ever. Has the attention span of a gnat! Work is terribly slow, bosses are terribly nasty and we figure that since they want to retire next november that they will just shut the doors and close up shop completely so I will probably be out of a job. Still in contac with my Canadian kilt wearer, though he is in Scotland for about 5 more months. Have only about 8 more weeks of a years worth ofweekly allergy shots to go, then down to monthly (but for 5 years!). Not bad for someone deathly afraid of needles and injections! Other than that, I'm pretty tired and worn out most of the time, but am going out saturday night for a bit of fun!

[> Okay, light enough I guess - an update on my caffeine contest. I now have coffee only when I am out at a restaurant, and even then I sometimes drink just water. Thus it is correct to say that I have a caffeine intake no more than once a day, and usually none at all. I found Postum and it substitutes nicely for coffee at breakfast and lunch when at home. I use peppermint herbal tea for dinner and Sleepytime herbal tea before retiring for the night. I just had some Lemon herbal tea and I found I'll have to avoid letting it steep too long as it was rather strong. How well do I sleep now? There seems to be an improvement this week after about two weeks of reducing the caffeine to very small amounts. Tuesday night I had 6 1/2 hours straight through and last night about 5. Oh, and I eat no chocolate now. Thanks again for everyone's advice two weeks ago. -- Ron, 15:41:09 11/20/03 Thu

[> Good idea Martina! Well besides work being slow also, like Colly (must be the industry), I took a wire-wrapping class this past Tuesday so I can add that to my repetiore (I KNOW I butchered that word!). My stuff at the gallery is getting rave reviews and I finally feel I'm on the right path with my business. I am getting more orders for healing pieces and feel that could be a good avenue for me to follow too. I was in Canada visiting a good friend and hit all the major rock shops (talk about a kid in a candy store) and I've completed my first two precious metal clay pieces which will be another thing to add to my jewelers resume. I'm still struggling with not being able to do my own business full time but am being told by many in the business that it will happen for sure and if they believe it, I must also. I'm getting out more with friends and enjoying life to the fullest too! I'm thankful for what is happening in my life right now for the most part! -- Lori, 17:53:53 11/20/03 Thu

[> [> That sounds wonderful positive, I am glad for you! We will be busy with putting wooden floors into our house this weekend. I hope JS will be able to sleep after that, because he has terrible problems with his back (compressed disks). He will be seeing a doc on Monday. Other than that, and we could need some more money in our pockets*g*, we are pretty happy too. :) -- Martina, 04:52:18 11/21/03 Fri
