Thanks, Karen, though I don't feel anyone needs to reveal their name. :) I hope some of my comments (responses to comments made about fake names) did not make anyone feel pressured to do so. If that is the case, I apologize, for it was my intention to justify, albeit implicitly, the sensibility of using a handle when using the Internet.

Regarding the arguments, I apologize if that's how I come across to you. But I wonder why I am seen as argumentative when I respond to others' arguments raised about me or my comments, yet they are not seen as argumentative?

Regarding hateful words, I think many are under the impression that hateful words are being used, when they are not. Some people even term the discussions as "bitchfests," when they are, in large part, mature discussions between people of different views. I think the reason for the misperception is that readers do not read through the entire threads. I can't say that I blame them, because VoyForum's format makes it very difficult to follow a discussion in chronological order (hence the time/date stamps, but even that is just too much information at times).

What I would ask is that, if anyone is interested in commenting on the discussion, could they please read the entire text before commenting on the discussion? It starts with the original discussion about flames, a thread called "gaffy Trek fic" that is on a different page of the Archives linked in the upper-right corner of this page (perhaps page 3 or 4 by now). It starts in a public forum, and, despite repeated requests for such, no e-mails or private correspondence has been made to resolve the issue.

I apologize for not e-mailing this first, but I am not arguing with or berating you, and I do feel that this is universal (and not individual-specific) enough to post rather than e-mail.

--Matt
