True, unfortunately. The archives that actually have MODERATORS who look over stuff at least screen out the most subliterate fics. A rapefic with decent spelling, grammar, and formatting could sneak in, but not stuff with tons of mistakes.

For my money, one site worth watching is eFanfiction.net, as they've made some changes that could boost their quality.

The most important of these changes is that they've let people know they are doing quality checks on the fics. If you submit a fic it takes roughly three days before it goes up.

They've also posted guidelines as to what they will and will not allow. Not only have they stopped accepting RP fics, but they've ALSO included some tips on proper formatting anf grammar.
